Allan Melanson, home from a singing tour with "Living Waters Gospel Singers", played the piano as he sang "Lift the Name of Jesus." After leading in singing choruses, Allan sang "There's Something Missing in Your Heart." Mr. Davies said that people will do good deeds for attention. others will do strange wrong things to get attention. Who is favoured in God's eyes? Is it the hand- some one, the good worker, the good student, the good farmer? Isaiah 66:2 tells us it is those who are poor, of a contrite spirit, and tremble at God's word. None of our good works bring us to God's favour. It is corning to the Lord saying we need Him and having a humble spirit. A person preaches not for praise, but because God has called him. Bruce Shaw led the song service Sunday evening and Mrs. Lorraine Armitage sang "What a Day That will be." Gary Schlegel spoke from Judges 7:1-12, saying Gideon considered himself small and weak, but God called him to lead Israel to conquer a big people. Out of the army Gideon had God weed them out to only 300 men. Could Gideon really trust God to win the battle with so few? God encouraged Gideon showing him the enemy were afraid of him. Bryan Ronald Lyle Worral, son of Wayne and Judy Worral, was baptized and received into the congregation of Christ's flock. A beautiful "funeral pall" was given for the glory of God and in loving memory of Norma L. Coleman by her daughter, Mrs. W.W. Garrett and family and dedicated by Rev Pocock. Rev Pocock's message was on the Holy Spirit. It was on this day, following the Ascension of our Lord, that God sent the gift of His Holy Spirit to dwell in the hearts of all believers. Pentecost has been called the church's birthday. It transformed a nervous, unfocused community into a creative force which began to grow. If you allow the Spirit to guide you, it is capable of remaking you into a new person. Up -Coming Events Sunday June 14 - Our Patronal Festival and Picnic - come casual to Church. She visited the 4th of Biddulph where many of the Abbott family took up farming in the early 1840's. Mrs. Brouse was interested to learn that the Abbotts have owned land there ever since that time. The late Clifford Abbott and Mrs. Brouse corresponded for many years on geneology. Mrs. Brouse was en- tertained by Mrs. Clifford Abbott on Friday when Arthur Abbott her son, and Edythe Kubelik, a niece were also guests. Many new relatives were found and many pictures taken for the family history book which Mrs. Brouse is writing. If this practice continues steps will be taken to lay charges under the village anti -noise bylaw. Under current regulations motorbikes and snowmobiles are prohibited from operating in village parks. A letter from the Lucan Community Centre Board asking for reconsideration of the village's allocation towards the operation for 1981 was received favourably. At the recent budget meeting, a number of cuts in funding were made including about $3,600 towards any arena operation deficit. After considerable discussion, council agreed to "consider the request and give it serious consideration later in the year."
