Exeter spent the weekend with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. William Rohde, while their parents were guests at the McCarter - Hafer wedding in Detroit. Saturday. Tom and Jon Passmore spent the weekend with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Batten of Elimville. while their parents Mr. and Mrs. David Passmore and Dale Passmore were guests at the Grace -Crawford wed- ding in Detroit. Saturday. Many people attended Open House Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hodgert in honour of their daughter Diane. bride -elect of this Saturday. At the regular church ser- vice on Sunday Brent Daw- son was confirmed. Mrs. Lorne Ballantyne. clerk of session called Brent to the front and Pastor Ross Hargreaves confirmed Brent and he was also welcomed by his father Mr. Murray. a member of ses- sion. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Duncan visited with Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Duncan and infant son in Ottawa a few days last week, and then they were all guest at the former's niece's wedding Cheryl Keeley in Kingston. Saturday. Mrs. Danny Coward. Mr. and Mrs. Barry E. Miller took 11 explorer girls and 17 tyro boys to Vanastra to swan and then returned to the church for lunch. Thirty ladies attended the June meeting of the United Church Women Monday evening. Mrs. Howard Cun- nington welcomed everyone to the meeting of which the Theme was "International Year of the Disabled". A reading on the disabled was given by Mrs. Cun- nington. Mrs. Barry E. Miller read the Scripture. We sang "Rise Up 0 Men of God." Mrs. Jack Stewart led in prayer. A reading "Spring Housecleaning" by Mrs. Ar- nold Cann. A piano solo by Cheryl Stewart was much enjoyed. Mrs. Barry Miller in- troduced Mrs. Bill (Marlene) Taylor of Hensall who spoke about her son Chad who is deaf. She gave us all something to think about. Mrs. Jack Stewart thanked Marlene and presented her with a gift of money. Mrs. Jack Stewart and Mrs. Arnold ('ann received the offering and Mrs. Miller gave the Offer- tory prayer. Mrs. Murray Dawson opened the business part of the meeting with a poem "Dimes Worth of Something". The usual business was dealt with. Mrs. Lee Webber and Mrs. Ken Duncan gave their reports from the West- minster College weekend. It was mentioned that a new furnace was to be bought for the manse. The meeting was closed with singing "Peace like a river" and Mrs. Dawson closed in prayer. Group C served lunch along with the hostess Mrs. John Pym. The ladies guild of St. Marys church held their June meeting June 3 in the basement of the church. Plans were made for the strawberry and ham supper June 17. A draw for the Rose of Sharon quilt will be held at the supper. Mrs. Don Scott and Mrs. John Drury were the hostesses. Mrs. Erma Willett and Mrs. George Cockwell. Sault St. Marie, Mrs. Don Hay. London, Mrs. Bev Taylor, Ilderton and Mrs. Harvey Walper, Greenway visited with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Trevithick, Tuesday. Mrs. Bill Morley returned home from St. Joseph's Hospital, Saturday. Mrs. George Prest attend- ed a seminar in London Fri- day on foot and mouth care. UCW meet The United church Women held their June meeting at the home of Mrs. Jack Hodgson, Wednesday even- ing, the opening hymn being "0 master let me walk with W� thee" followed by prayer by Mrs. George Lee. Mrs. Wilbert Lewis read the scripture reading Mrs. Lee a reading on "Love wich overcome Selfishness". Three ladies took part in reading from "Missions in 1980". Mrs. Jack Hodgson read poem "Thankyou for the lilies white." Minutes were read and roll call was answered by eight present. Tickets for the chicken barbecue to be held July 8 were given out to be sold. Lunch was served by Group 3 ladies. Jim Morley is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital. IRVIN RADER DASHWOOD At the meeing of the Dashwood and Area Medical committee meeting Thurs- day evening all members were wearing happy smiles. A bulldozer has begun work at the building site and the result of many meetings and discussions is now visible in the beginning of the new Medical Centre building. A rummage sale will be held Saturday June 27, sell- ing to begin at 11 a.m. Anyone having articles to donate please call 237-3412 or 237-3606 or bring to the Dashwood community cen- tre pavilion Saturday in time for marking. Volunteer help will be appreicated from 9 a.m. to ?. Mark your calendar for July 12. The ball team from C.F.P.L.
