The only goal in three girls games, came from the foot of Katherine Devlaeminck as the seniors lost 2-1 to Seaforth. In other games, the atom girls lost 3-0 to South east London and the mosquito girls were beaten 1-0 by Oakridge. Holtzmann is winner again In Tuesday's regular men's gold action at the Ironwood course, Dave Holtzmann won the "A" flight low gross award on a countback after he was tied at 41 with Terry O'Rourke and Steve Horn. The low net winner was Stu Homuth. In "B" flight, Don Heywood at 42 and Mike Cushman with a 44 were the low grass winners while Jim Gregus and Larry Wein were low net award winners. Bill Gilfillan at 44 and Bob Swartman at 46 led the "C" flight in low gross while net honours were taken by Ray Heywood and John Morgan. Brian McLellan fired a 51 for the low gross score in "D" flight and Charlie Smith was the low net winner. Gabby Mol took the prize for a tee shot closest to the hole. He missed by 50 cen- timetres. SUMMERS GRANTON Unit 1 met at the home of Mrs. Cliff MacRobert on June 3. Mrs. Gordon McRobert presided and opened with the Scripture. The lesson Thoughts were entitled "To know God and our fellowmen". The devotions concluded with prayer. During the business period a number of items were dis- cussed, such as plans for the pork Barb -B -Q and strawberry social to be held in the park on June 24, the General U.C.W. meeting on June 9 at the Untied Church. Unit 1 is responsible for the program at this meeting. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Phyllis Barnes newly ordained minister for the Wellburn Charge, who will speak on the topic "Woman as seen by Jesus". Mrs. G. McRobert conven- ed the program and presented a paper on the Bi- ble Study "Woman of the Scriptures" with each member reading a passage from the Bible on this sub- ject. A full course supper prepared and served by the hostess and her daughter-in- law Mrs. Gordon McRobert was enjoyed. Mrs. Robert Garrett was the hostess for Unit 3. Mrs. Eric Chovancek presided and opened with a reading entitled "Pastor's Pastor". During the business period further plans were made and finalized for the pork barb -b - q, also the Unit 3 summer activity and catering. In place of a program, con- veners Mrs. Leroy Bryan and Mrs. Eric Chovancek showed a film entitled "To pray is to live." This depicted how prayer can make our lives fuller and richer. Mrs. Robt. Garrett and Mrs. Cliff Cook assisted the hostess to serve lunch. Unit 4 met at the home of Mrs. Tom Gagan. Mrs. Cliff Hardie presided and opened with a hymn followed by lesson thoughts and prayer. Items discussed during the business session were plans for fun day, the bazaar and the pork barb -b -q. Mrs.Floyd Dykes and Mrs. Tom Gagan were in charge of the program, with Mrs. Dykes presenting a paper on the "Daughters of Zion" from the current Bible study on "Women of the Bible", nad Mrs. Gagan reading por- tions of the Scripture con- nected with this study. Mrs. Chas. Gowan and Mrs. Fred Hardie assisted the hostess to serve lunch. Mrs. Malcolm Spence was the hostess for Unit 5. Mrs. Chas McRobert presided and opened with a reading en- titled "Count yourgains, not your Losses". The theme of the lesson thoughts was "to know God and our fellowmen". The program on the "Daughters of Zion" was presented by Mrs. Malcolm Spence, with Mrs. Garnet Baker reading passages from the Bible pertaining to this study. Mrs. Garnet Baker assisted the hostess to serve lunch. Church news At the United Church the Rev. Elwood Morden con- ductec, the Pentecost Sunday worship, and entitled his ser- mon "Marks of the Holy Spirit". Pentecost happened 50 days after the resurrec- tion of Christ. The Holy Spirit is God, and is everywhere, the Apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The Holy Spirit is also Power, power over ourselves and others, it is also Guidance, we need to live under the guidance of God. The service at St. Thomas Anglican Church was withdrawn so that the con- gregation could celebrate with St. Paul's Church Kirkton on the occasion of their Anniversary. Court Valentine Canadian Foresters meet The members of Court Valentine met at the Mason's hall on June 2. Sis. Jean McComb presided and opened Court and conducted the business. Plans were made to hold a bake sale at Windmill Park on June 27 at 11:00 a.m. and it was decided to forego the bus trip to the Country Playhouse at Grand Bend this year. The draw for a Forester coffee spoon was won by Sis. Lois Herbert and Sis Florence McRobert won the no's draw. Lunch committee was Sis Olive Hodgins and Lois Herbert. BEST INDIVIDUAL - Marie Jaques with a high single of 252 and Alice Kooy with an average of 179 were the individual winners of the Huron Park ladies bowling league. Anyone wishing to register their youngster for S.P.A.R.K. in Huron Park and Crediton or lessons at the Stephen township pool in Huron Park should come to the Stephen township arena on Friday June 19 from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. Anyone wishing to enroll their youngster in the Dash- wood playground can do so at the Dashwood pavilion June 19 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The following is a fee schedule for our programs this summer: S.P.A.R.K. in Huron Park - June 29 - July 24 (four weeks) - $4 per youngster, $7 for two members in a family and $9 for three members in a family. S.P.A.R.K. at Crediton Community Park - July 27 - August 14 (three weeks) - $3 per youngster, $5 for two members in a family and $6 for three members in a family. Dashwood Playground ("Friedskids") - June 29 - August 14 - (seven weeks) - $7 per youngster, $12 for two members in a family and $15 for three members in a family. Stephen Township Swimming Pool Lessons - $15 per three week session, $25 for two per family and $30 for three per family. Sessions are as follows: session 1 - June 29 - July 17; session 2 - July 20 - August 7; session 3 - August 10 -August 28. Public swim rates this year will be 30 cents for children, 50 cents for teens (high school) and 75 cents for adults. Season's tickets will once again be available at $15 for children, $20 for teens, $25 for adults and $45 for a family. Private rentals can be booked at the pool again this year for $30 an hour for any clubs or teams interested in swim parties. For information on these summer programs call 234- 6331.
