According to TV scuttle- butt, we'll be seeing some Odds'n ends Old familiar faces old tamllar faces in new roles on our television screens this year. Lorne Green had come a long way from his days on Canadian radio. He traded in his horse and three middle- aged sons on an American tv ranch for black attire and a home in another universe. Lately he's gone back to western clothes to sell dog food, but soon he'll be -don- MR. AND MRS. JOHN THOMSON On Saturday, May 16, in London, Sherrie Lynn Glanville and John Charles Thomson were united in marriage. The maid of honour was Sharon Hopper and the best man was Mike Strauss. Rev. George Goth officiated at the ceremony. After a honeymoon to Niagara Falls, the couple are now residing in Huron Park. Music festival opens On Saturday, June 13, at 10:30 p.m.. Stratford Summer Music invites you to be part of history. As part of the gala opening celebrations of Stratford summer music. a spec- tacular river pageant and fireworks display will be staged. At approximately 10:30 p.m.• Boris Brott and 30 members of the Hamilton Philharmonic, dressed in 17th centery costumes, aboard a specially designed and decorated barge, will be transported up the Avon River in Stratford by the Western Rowing club while performing Handel's WATER MUSIC After mooring near Tom Patterson Island. the ensem- ble will then play THE ROYAL FIREWORKS SUITE, accompanied by a brilliant fireworks display. The public is invited to watch and listen to this once in a lifetime musical and visual experience from the banks of the Avon River and to help celebrate the begin- ning of a new tradition - Stratford Summer Music. ning a fireman's helmet and driving a fire engine. Lee Majors will appear in a new series called Fall Guy, in which he will play a stunt- man without the benefit of $6,000,000 components. Mike Connors will move from private eye Mannix to an FBI agent. Remember Robert Stack from the Untouchables and the girl from Mary Hart- man, Mary Hartman? They are both making comebacks In new roles. Suzanne Somers and Chrissie Snow have com- pleted their turbulent break with the ABC network and Three's Company. Chrissie will move to CBS next January. Her name will change to Suzy• but her characteristics will stay the same. Erma Bombeck. colum- nist and author, has appeared on several talk shows and is responsible for a new show called Maggie. Some stars have already made changes. Barbara Eden jumped from a Jeanie in a bottle to a lady that wowed the Harper Valley PTA. The mayor of the town is good old "lonesome" George Gobel, who takes time away from Hollywood Stars game show to play a rather tipsy town official. One of the most remarkable conversions is that of Larry Hagman. He went from the kindly and likeable master of Jeanie to the most unlikeable J. R. in Dallas. Rebekahs celebrate 34th birthday event Pride of Huron Rebekah Lodge celebrated its 34th birthday Wednesday evening. The Past Noble Grands opened and closed Lodge with Mrs. Gladys V. St. Exeter 235-2225 Sometimes it is hard for the viewing public to accept old faces in new roles. We might still expect Michael Landon and Pernell Roberts to call Lorne Green "Pa", even though Michael Landon has been a "pa" himself for several years and Pernell Roberts is a successful modern doctor. We may be astonished if Lee Majors can't leap from the ground to the roof of a three-storey building. We may insist on calling Suzy by the name of Chrissie. It's a credit to an actor's ability if he can make us forget the old character and accept the new one. Nobody has done it better than mean old J.R. An early • surprise At London conference The members of Alpha Pi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi were called from their beds early Sunday morning May 31 as the social committee surprised them with a kid- nap breakfast. Everyone met at the home of Barb Passmore where a most delicious and bountiful breakfast was enjoyed by all. Following an informal dis- cussion on the upcoming year in Alph Pi prizes in various categories were awarded to Barb Ballantyne, Nancy Chambers and Sharon Lynn. Let our staff take some of the worry out of COOKIE OF THE WEEK An event organized by the London Conference of the United Church Women, drew 170 ladies from eight Presbyteries. They met at Westminster College in Lon- don. These women experienced a weekend of fellowship, singing, prayer and Bible study. There were also worthwhile discussion groups that proved helpful to many. Rev. Lloyd Smith and his wife Catherine of Trinity United Church in London were the team leaders. They used a different approach for meditation and prayer. The ladies were asked to have more contemplative and silent prayer - to stop and listen - to give God a chance to talk to them. Those attending from Ex- eter United Church were - Mrs. Ellen Forsythe, Mrs. Velma Huff, Mrs. Olive Thomson, Mrs. Elsie Tuckey. 1 BUTTERSCOTCH * * Is This Week's Feature, But You Can * Also Enjoy One Of Our Many Other * * Delicious Varieties ** ************************** dd a Little Spice to Your Moulin Try our World Renowned HOMEMADE MUFFINS Castro Moll ths• Cookie Cutter:' - we utter 235 -0928 JJIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII111III111111111111111111111111111111tIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII1111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111W1111111111111= r _ Bulk Unpasteurized Golden Honey Hut arranging your Complete selection of silk and fresh flowers • We decorate churches halls and homes • Custom Designed bouquets, corsages and arrangements Mon.
