TEMPLEMAN STAFFA Friends, neighbours and relatives gathered Tuesday evening in Cromarty Church, honouring bride - elect Barbara Kerslake with a miscellaneous shower. The evening was planned by Mrs. Carlyle Meikle and girls and Mrs. Jim Miller and Betty Anne. Mrs. Jim Miller chaired the program, a reading by Mrs. Larry Gardiner, piano in- strumental by Geraldine Meikle and contests con- ducted by Betty Anne Miller. Pam Wallace read an address of good wishes and Barbara was presented with many lovely and useful gifts. Barbara expressed her thanks to all. Miss Ruth Templeman has accepted a position with Holloway Automotive Supply in Stratford. Staffa No I 4-H Homemakers club, attended and participated in the Achievement Day for "Which Came First the chicken or the egg?" held at the Kirkton and Woodham Community Centre, Saturday. Leading the club are Mrs. Charles Douglas and' Mrs. Spencer Jeffery. Staffa No I set up a exhibit on the anatomy of the chicken, with commentary by Sharon Fell and Renne Drost. Visiting on the holiday weekend with Mr. and Mrs. J. Templeman and family were Mrs. Jim Neilson and Jennifer, Stratford, Mrs. Dave Capling Mississauga, Mrs. Nancy Bertens and Ruth Templeman. Weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Rob Templeman Carrah and Cain, were Dr. Jane Robinson and Miss Carol Stewart, Hamilton. Catholic ladies choose officers MT. CARMEL The regular meeting of the Mt. Carmel CWL attracted 28 ladies to the school library, Tuesday night. President Jean Fleming chaired the meeting, which opened with the league prayer. Minutes were read by Suzanne Devlaeminck, and the treasurer report given by Barb McCann. The roll call was "our favourite time of year." Jean Fleming and Suzanne Devlaeminck attended the 125th anniversary of the London Diocesan C.W.L. convention held at the Wheels Inn, Chatham, May 5 and 6. The theme was "Faith in the family." The Provincial C.W.L. Convention will be held July 7, 8 and 9 at Thunder Bay. A pilgrimage to the Marian Shrine at St. Marys was planned. Plans were discussed for the CWL to celebrate its 60th anniversary later this year. Jack and Beverley Keller, Sherri -Lynn and Stephen, visited recently with Bev's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kirk, at Moorefield. Mrs. Cliff Russell has returned home after a 10 day visit with her mother, Mrs. Edgar Webb, of St. Catharines and other relatives in that area. Monday callers with Russell's Sr. were a niece and her husband, Patti and Mark Whitmore, of London, Cliff's brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Russell and Eric, of Essex. MR. AND MKS.-PHILIPPE NCAES Janet Louise Shanks and Philippe Emile Maes exchanged marriage vows at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Lucan on Saturday, May 2, 1981 by Father Joseph Finn. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Shanks, Kippen and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Maes, Charlero, Belgium. The maid of honour was Lynn Fish, Orangeville and best man was Keith Shanks, Kippen. Bridesmaids were Beatrice Maes, Belgium, Bev Nasadyk, Thamesford and Tracy Cornelis, Ailsa Craig. Guests were ushered by Paul Shanks, Kippen, Gerard Vanneste, Lucan, and Gerard Cornelis, Ailsa Craig. Flower girl was Noella Cornelis and ringer bearer was Richard Cornelis, both of Ailsa Craig. Philippe's mother and sister were visiting here for the wedding from Belgium. Mr. and Mrs. Maes are now residing at RR 1 Centralia.
