Stephen programs are detailed
By Lynne Farquhar
Notification on grants for
summer programs is now
rolling in at the Stephen
Township office and we're
busy lining up the roster for
1981.
S.P.A.R.K. is back again
this year to provide a
summer playground
program for youngsters
aged 4-12. This year
S.P.A.R.K. will run for four
weeks from June 29 -July 24
at the McCurdy School
grounds in Huron Park.
The last three weeks of the
program, July 27 -August 14,
S.P.A.R.K. will operate out
of Crediton Community Park
to provide the program for
Crediton youngsters.
Dashwood playground will
be operating out of the Dash-
wood pavilion this year
under the name of "Frieds-
kids". This program will go
for seven' weeks from June
29 -August 14.
Lessons will once again be
available at the Stephen
Township swimming pool in
Huron Park. The program
will consist of three -3 -week
sessions running on the
following schedule: session 1
- June 29 -July 17; session 2 -
July 20 -August 7; session 3 -
August 10 august 28.
Fees and registration
dates for these' programs
will be announced through
this article at a later date.
We are looking for
playground leaders and pool
staff to operate the above
programs this summer.
Anyone interested should
look for an ad elsewhere in
this edition for information
on how to apply.
Huron' Park's minor ball
program should be getting
into full swing in the next
couple of weeks as long as we
get a little more co-operation
from the weatherman.
The girls will be having a
pee wee and bantam team
this season. Any girls who
have signed up as squirts
will be combined with the
pee wees to form one team.
We are still looking for
coaches for the girls, so

anyone out there who is
interested in coaching should
contact me at the Stephen
Township Office at 2344331
or Donna Glanville at the
Clerk's Office in Exeter.
Huron Park boys will be
having a squirt and a pee
wee boys team. Anyone
wishing to play squirt should
contact their coaches Randy
Stanlake or Bob Snell, and
pee wee boys should contact
Bob Watson.
Ron Morrison is still
looking for enough boys to
form a bkntam team. If not
enough boys are rounded up,
the team will have to fold so
please contact Ron as soon
as possible if you want to
play. If the team folds,
anyone who has paid their
registration, will be
refunded.
All girls playing pee wee or
bantam are reminded that
there will be practice at 6:30
p.m. at the McCurdy School
diamond tonight, Wednesday
weather permitting. If it is
raining or extremely cold do
not come as practice will be
cancelled. Parents are again
reminded that squirt age
girls are now pee wees.
Many parents have been
inquiring as to whether T -
Ball will be running again in
Huron Park. My latest
sources say that the
Optimists Club of Stephen
are trying to get something
organized so keep watching
the paper for information.
The Optimists also men-
tioned that they are
organizing a Tri-Star ball
program quite similar to the
hockey program they ran
this winter.
This event is staged for
sometime in late July so
watch for more information
on this program from the
Optimists.
Keep watching your
newspaper for more in-
formation on summer
programs for 1981 in Stephen
Township.
