Youth groups perform
By MRS. E. SUMMERS
There was a full house in
attendance at both variety
show performances by the
youth groups consisting of
Scouts, Cubs, Beavers,
C.G.I.T. and Explorers on
Friday evening and Sunday
afternoon.
The program consisted of
action songl,,' skits and one
and two actplays.
The Beavers stole the
show, not a bit self con-
scious, putting everything
they had into their songs.
There also were a number of
budding thespians who took
part in the skits and plays,
the costumes were most
authentic.

Separate board

Twenty teachers in the
Huron -Perth County Roman
Catholic Separate School
system will be teaching in a
different school when they
return to the classroom in
September. The list of
transfers was approved by
the board at its meeting
Monday but only released to
the press Wednesday after
the teachers on the list had
been notified
Some of the transfers were
requested, William Eckert,
Director of Education, said,
but most resulted when
the board found it will have
too many teachers in Huron
schools in September and not
enough to staff the Perth
schools. He said rather than
move some teachers long
distances they 'reviewed all
the staff and did more "short
distance" transfers.
He said there expected to
be only a small decline in
enrolment over the system
but that three classrooms
will have to be opened up in
Stratford and one closed in
Seaforth, when the fall term
gets underway in Sep-
tember.

Church news
At the United Church, the
Rev. Elwood Morden was in
charge of the Sunday wor-
ship. He entitled his message
"Gods in todays World."
This a a generation where we
want to have our cake and
eat it too, said the minister, a
time of credit cards, easy
travel, fly now, pay later
decisions we can postpone.
We are concerned with
pleasure and worldly things,
people worship these things
and pursue them as if life
itself were at stake.
At St. Thomas Anglican
Church the Rev. Greg Smith
conducted the morning
prayer service. The two
scripture lessons were read
by Mrs. Ron Hardie and Miss
Helen Herbert.
Rev. Smith based his
sermon on "The act of gift
giving." Be thankful and
enjoy the gifts that you
receive and share the gift of
joy with others. For
example, the experiences of
the Risen Lord, and when
King Mazra received his

Kingship over the Kingdom
of Babylon.
In the children's time the
rector explained to them to
use their gifts wisely, share
with others and be thankful.
A social half hour of
fellowship was held in the
church hall after the service
with Mrs. Fred Crouch and
Mrs. Jack Noon serving
refreshments.
The ladies meeting will be
held on Thursday May 7 at 8
p.m. in the church hall.
