Biddulph
taxes jump
An 8.5 percent increase in
Biddulph Township's
property tax rate will in-
crease taxes on an average
farm assessed at $8,000 by
about ;110 to $1,400.
Clerk -treasurer Austin
Hodgins said Wednesday the
tax rate has been increased
13.7 mills to 175 mills on farm
and residential properties
and 16.1 mills to 205.9 mills
on commercial property.
He said Granton residents
will be charged an additional
20 mills for the village rate,
largely for a street paving
program.
Residents are charged $1
per mill on each .$1,000 of
property assessment.
A breakdown of the rate
shows 6.4 mills of the farm
and residential increase can
be attributed to the
education rate, which in-
creased to 102.9 mills. The
commercial education rate
increased 7.6 mills to 121.1.
A $44,000 increase in the
township's operating budget
to 8451,800 increased the
farm and residential rate by
five mills to 50 mills and the
commercial rate by five
mills to 50 mills and the
commercial rate by 5.8 mills
to 58.8 mills.
Biddulph's share in
operation of Middlesex
County has increased 2.3
mills on farm and residential
property to 22.1 mills and 2.7
mills on commercial
property to 26 mills.
