Kirkton girl iscandidate
Susan Schaefer, Kirkton, a
senior at St. Marys District
Collegiate High School, is
one of 100 semifinalists ,for
a Jostens Foundation
Scholarship for Canadian
students.
Schaefer, daughter of Dr.
and Mrs. William Schaefer,
was one of more than 500
high school students
throughout Canada who
applied for the award. The 20
scholarship winners will be
announced this spring.
Selection of the finalists and
winners is based on outstan-
ding achievements in school
and community affairs,
Police
The Exeter police depart-
ment constables worked 56
hours of overtime in March
according to Police Chief
Ted Day in his monthly
report to council, Tuesday.
In answer to question from
Reeve Don MacGregor, the
Chief indicated there were a
large number of in-
vestigations during the
month.
Fifteen of those overtime
hours were for court duty.
Statistics in the March
report were as follows: 12
accidents with four injuries
and damage of $4,725, 32
warnings and 19 charges un-
der the Highway Traffic Act,
15 charges under the Liquor
Control Act. six parking
academic excellence and
meaningful work ex-
periences.
The Citizens Scholarship
Foundation of America, Con-
cord, N.H., as ad-
ministrators for The Jostens
Foundation Scholarship
Program. has selected the
semi-finalists and will select
the winners after receiving
additional information.
Semi-finalists who do not
receive scholarships will

being $220 with one charge
laid, 10 thefts of under $200
with total loot of $660 of
which $50 has been
recovered one theft over $200
with loot being $600 and all
of it recovered and one
charge laid.

Suddenly at University
Hospital, London, on
Thursday, April 23, 1981,
William' Orville Dixon of
RR2 Lucan, in his 79th year.
Beloved husband of Madolin
McFalls. Dear father of
Donald of Hensall, Lenore
(Mrs. Don Young) of
Waterloo, and Iola (Mrs.
Ron Shirran) of Parkhill.
Predeceased by one son
Gary (1972). Beloved
grandfather of 11 grand-
children and two great-
grandchildren. Dear brother
of Zelda George of Sarnia,
Rheola Hopson and Marjorie
White both of Ailsa Craig and
Audrey (Mrs. Gord Kemp)
of RR2 Lucan. Predeceased
by two brothers Jack and
Les. Also survived by
several nieces and nephews.
Rested at the T. Stephenson
and Son Funeral Home,
Ailsa Craig, where the
funeral service was held on
Saturday April 25 at 3:30
p.m. with Rev. Robert
Roberts officiating assisted
by Rev. A.E. Menzies.
Interment in Carlisle
Cemetery.
No injuries
No injuries were reported
in any of the four accidents
investigated this week by the
Exeter OPP.
Two of the accidents oc-
curred on Tuesday, the first
involving vehicles driven by
Ricky Davies, Leamington,
and Beverly Genttner, Ex-
eter. They collided at the en-
trance to Norwood Village
just south of Exeter and
damage was listed at $1,200
by ('onstable Bob Whiteford.
Vehicles operated by
Gregory Ducharme, RR 3
Brussels. and Robert Young,
Grand Bend. were involved
in the other Tuesday colli-
sion on Highway 4 south of
Hensall.
Constable Wayne Charlton
investigated and listed total
damage at 8900.
The other two collisions
were reported on Wednesday
the first involving vehicles
driven by Doreen Browning,
Crediton. and Leo Dykstra,
HP 2 Thorton. They collided
on Highway 4 at the Crediton
Road and damage was es-
timated at $1,050 by
Constable Frank Giffin.
A vehicle owned by Donna
Hunter. Zurich, was left
parked on the east side of
Goshen St. in Zurich and it
rolled backward and collided
with a building on the op-
posite side of the road.
Damage to the building,
owned by Milton Oesch, was
estimated at $3,000 and $150
to the czar.

They had the right month,
but the wrong year!
That was the situation
regarding the planned atten-
dance of Exeter delegates to
a public works show in
Toronto. The delegates had
planned to be in attendance
to view a commercial lawn
mower required for the local
parks system.
However, while the show
is planned for April, it is not
until 1982, whereas it had
been thought it was this
year.
for OMAF. In the fall of 1980
he toured for one week each
in France, Holland and
Scotland visiting many
different farming com-
munities, including grape
harvesting areas in France.
He will show slides of his trip
and talk about farming in
those areas.
He was also one of two
Canadian delegates to the
Organization for Economic
Co-operation and
Development Conference
(OECE) which is held every
three years. In 1980 when he
attended while in Europe it
was held in Brussels.
The theme for the year
was "Agricultural advisory
services for the '80's and the
Years to Come in the light of
Changing Economic Con•
ditions." The OECE is a well
known organization
throughout Europe but isn't
very widely heard of in
Canada.
