Teachers at
Conference
Attending a Teachers'
Evaluation Conference in
Toronto, Friday evening and
all day Saturday, were
Sharron Barnes and
Marguerite McRoberts of
the Lucan school and Helen
White of Centennial and
Oxbow schools.
Evaluation of Student
Achievement was the theme
of the conference attended
by 300 women teachers from
all over Ontario, and it was
sponsored by the 30,000
member Federation of
Women Teachers'
Associations of Ontario.
Workshops and seminars
were held on such topics as
observation skills, brain
growth, periodization, etc.
under three main topics,
Reporting to Parents, Early
Identification and the
Ontario Assessment
Instrument Pool.
The three teachers found
the conference most helpful.
Fill a large salt shaker

dusting cake pans or coating
meat.

About 50 1st Cromarty
Cubs, Beavers, Scouts.
leaders and parents went by
bus Saturday to see the fish
ladders at Port Albert. After
the botanist in charge
described the work being
done there. the group were
able to see several rainbow
trout lifted, tagged,
measured. weighed and put
into the recovery tank.
A sample of scales to show
the fish's age was scraped
Off. The ladders are high
enough to prevent suckers
and lamprey eel from jum-
ping over to get into the
river.
The fish are running about
three weeks earlier than
usual this year and over 350
had been tagged.
WMS Meets
Cromarty WMS held their
annual Good Friday dinner
and meeting at the church.
With Dorothy Miller
presiding the Easter
Worship Service from the
Glad Tidings was followed.
Scripture readings were
taken by Lila McKaig,
Muriel Scutt, Agnes La -
mond. and Aileen Knight.
Joanne Wallace played two
accordion numbers, Amaz-
ing Grace. and The Old rugg-
ed Cross
For her topic, Lillian
Douglas read an article on
Easter as well as one on the
American hostages as mar-
tyrs. The roll call was
answered with an Easter
verse.
Mrs Knight showed slides
of visits she and her husband
had made to missionfieldsin
India and Nepal. She also
told of some of the hardships
our missionaries have but
never speak of when speak-
ing on furloughs.
Joint Service
Hibbert United Church
joined with Cromarty
Presbyterian Church for the
annual Good Friday service.
The Rev Kenneth Knight led
the service assisted by Mr.
Lorne Thrower, student
minister of Hibbert United.
Mr. Thrower spoke on the
travesty of Jesus' trial. With
Mrs_ Elmer Dow at the
organ. the choir sang two
numbers And can it be. and
Standing at the Cross.
Easter Sunday the Rev.
Kenneth Knight spoke on the
theme "Why are you looking
among the dead for one who
is alive? Mrs. Dow was
organist for the service and
the choir sang, He Lives.
Mr. Knight read a thank -you
letter from Nghia and Ngirng
La of Kitchener.
