HAROLD DAVIS Mrs. Maurice Blackler and Miss Ethel Copeland at- tended a birthday party at Wildwood Nursing Home, Friday, held in honour of Mrs. Merton Rea's 96th birthday. Open house was held to honour the 80th birthday of Mrs. Myrtle Doupe at the Kirkton Woodham Com- munity Centre, Sunday. Friends and relatives attended from St. Thomas, Singhampton, Langton, Trenton, New Hamburg, Music at Centralia By MRS, FPED BOWDEN The musical presented by the Centralia and Zion churches drew a large congregation to the United Church Sunday morning. Penny Smith and her father, Harvey Smith, provided piano and guitar music as a prelude to the service. Mr. Peter Snell conducted the morning devotions. Anthems were sung by both choirs. Zion Junior Choir sang and delighted their listeners with their rhythm band number. Piano duets by Ruth Ann Essery and Kelly Hern; Karen and Charlotte Miller. Singing in a mixed quartette were Glenna Tripp, Faye Blair, Rob Essery and Alan Powe accompanied by Mr. Gill at the organ and Mary Lou Tindall playing her clarinet. Vocal duet by Faye Blair and Judy Mills ac- companied by Bob Heywood. Bob Heywood also sang several numbers with ac- cordion accompaniment. There was a number by the male quartette with Mrs. Gill at the piano. Singing in the quartette were Messrs Doug Gill, Bob Blair, Bob Heywood and Sam Skinner. Peter Snell's solo turned out to be a duet when his daughter Linda sang with him. The service drew many favourable comments. Lunch and a social hour in the church schoolrooms followed the service. Play Euchre Mr. and Mrs. William Lamport and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Swartz were in charge of the euchre party at the Community Centre Monday night with eight tables in play. Winners were: ladies high - Mrs. Jack Dickins, lone hands - Mrs. Tom Kooy; low - Mrs. Alonzo Hodgins; men's high - Charles Rollings; lone hands - Mrs. Frank Hicks playing a man's card; low - Nelson Squire; special prize - Mrs. Jean Miller. The committee for the next party will be Mr. and Mrs. Bob Blair, George Dixon and Murray Carter. Personals This coming week Rev. and Mrs. Crowe will be taking up residence in the manse and Rev. Crowe will be in charge of next Sunday's service. Stephen Molnar. Agincourt was a weekend visitor with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Molnar. Mrs. James Files and Jennifer, Terrace Bay are visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins. Miss Ada Mitchell of Montpelies, Ohio was a visitor with them for a few days and Sunday visitors were Mr. Chas Hodgins and Mrs. Florence McGinnes, Chesley; Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Morley, Lieury; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Steeper. Ailsa Craig; Mr. and Mrs. Don Pickering, Sherry and Joanne, Hyde Park; Mr. and Mrs. Fern Morris and Dalton, Stratford. Senior citizens enjoyed an afternoon of crokinole and cards, followed by lunch, in the Community Centre. Monday. Clandeboye Pat Hodgins. Debbie Manders and Marilyn Groenewegen were the only ones from Clandeboye area, participating in the Great Ride for Cancer, Sunday Debbie and Pat were with the Lucan ride to Granton and back, while Marilyn rode in the Strathroy area. where she works. Mr. and Mrs. Danny Roger and family of London are in the process of building a new house, just south of Clandeboye. They plan to move in. in June.
