Stephen township council lets contracts for road work
Jennison Construction
Limited of Grand Bend was
the lowest of three tenders
received by Stephen town-
ship council for the 1981
gravel contract.
The Grand Bend firm will
supply and spread gravel on
township roads for 82.53 per
ton; Toad the township truck
for 81.71 a ton and supply
gravel for stockpile at $2.26 a
ton.

out of fibreglass. "The
fibreglass work is very
critical," Hughes said.
The completed boats on
display at the open house had
already been sold, and are
now being delivered. One 39
foot columbia, valued at
8110,000 is now being trucked
to the new owner in Van-
couver.

Pollard Brothers of
Harrow will be supplying the
township's supply of liquid
calcium at 8135.85 per flaked
ton. The Pollard bid was the
only one received.
Council has agreed to
share the cost of pipe
necessary to join the
McGillivray and Shipka to
Dashwood water pipelines at
Khiva. The work will be done
by McGillivray.
Request for a sup-
plementary subsidy in the
amount of $15,000 for
municipal drain works has
been made to the Ontario
Ministry of Transportation
and Communications.
Ken Pickering has been
reappointed as the township
drainage commissioner.

Ausable-Bayfield Conser-
vation Authority for 1981 in

$46,695� deficit
The audit report covering
business for 1981 for the
township of Usborne was
accepted by council recent-
ly. It shows a net deficit of
$46,695.
At the same time, council
instructed auditor Eugene
Bender to prepare a budget
for 1981 for council's con-
sideration.
Tenders for three
municipal drains were
accepted. R. Nicholson
Construction will receive
$7,210 for the Washburn
drain and Parker and Parker
of Hensall will construct the
Cornish and Morley drains
for $2,354.55 and $11,492.53,
respectively.
The township insurance
package was reviewed with
D.W. Reed of Frank Cowan
Co. and renewed with some
changes.
Council supported an
application from Hensall to
the Ontario Ministry of
Housing and Central
Mortgage for senior citizen
apartments with rentals
geared to income.
Council agreed to co-
operate with the townships
of Stephen, Hay and Stanley
in hiring a summer student
to assist the Huron county
planning department in zon-
ing bylaw preparations in
the four municpalities.
The report of the Brock
Creek municipal drain was
provisionally adopted and a
tender call will be adver-
tised for consideration at a
meeting set for April 30.
Bylaws authorizing con-
struction of the Cornish,
Verbeke. Morley and
Washburn municipal drains
were passed.

the amount of $13,379 was
approved for payment.
During the last month nine
tile drain loan applications
totalling $139,500 were ap-
proved.
The necessary tile for
construction of the Mud
Creek municipal drain will
be purchased from Cold-
stream Concrete Limited.
The report on the Mud
Creek drain has been read
and accepted and two
readings of the bylaw passed.
Council has approved a
supplementary road budget
of $183,332 to cover com-
pletion of the Devil's Elbow
bridge, the Mud Creek drain
and purchase of a new truck.
The Ministry of
Intergovernmental Affairs
has been asked by Stephen
council to supply one sum-
mer student to work on
zoning bylaws for the
townships of Stephen, Hay,
Usborne and Stanley.
The 1981 budget for the
Exeter and area fire board
was accepted.
Approval was given to a
site plan control for part of
Lot 5, Lake Road East
Concession.
Council has received a
recommendation from the
Stephen recreation board
that the Crediton social club
be asked to take over the
township hall in Crediton.
A building permit was
granted to Bill
Theophilopoulos to rebuild a
portion of Theo's Variety
store, near Huron Park.
The township property on
part of Lot 23, North
Boundary Concession, just
south of Dashwood which
formerly housed the Dash-
wood waste disposal site will
be sold by auction in the near
future.
Reeve Doug Russell and
councillors Tom Tomes and
Ralph Weber will form part
of the Court of Revision for
the Mud Creek municipal on
May 5 at 9 p.m. along with a
representative from Hay and
McGillivray townships.
An agreement with
Ontario Development
Corporation to use the Huron
Park swimming pool from
June 22 to September 28 at a
cost of $150 was approved.

clerk Wilmer Wein and road
superintendent Eric Fink-
beiner will be attending the
annual meeting of the Huron
Municipal Officers
Association to be held in
Lucknow on April 16. Clerk
Wein will also attend a clerk -
treasurers session in

A membership fee of $30
was approved for the
Property Standards
Association. Building in-
spector Arnold McCann is a
member

authorized to sign a two year
contract with the Bank of
Montreal.
At a special meeting
March 24to discuss township
water projects, Steve Burns
of B.M. Ross Engineers was
instructed to add a 12 inch
line for the proposed service
between Crediton and Huron
Park and ask for further
time for funding.
Approval has been
received for provincial
funding for water services
for the police village of
Crediton and Centralia. The
only question is when the
monies will be available.
