Hemdingers, Cutters
and Seamrippers meet
The seventh meeting of
the Grand Bend no. 3 4-H
club "The Hem Dingers"
was held at the home of
Juanita Young. Seven
members answered the roll
call: Name some clothing
articles already in your war-
drobe that co-ordinate with
the new garment you are
making for the 4-H project.
President Roxanne Woods
chaired the meeting.
Secretary Patti Love read
the minutes. The clothesline
quiz was completed and our
skit for Achievement Day
was practised under the
direction of our leaders
Laura Desjardine and Karen
Woods.

The Seam Rippers, club
number one and the Calico
Cutters, club number two,
each held their seventh and
last meeting, on Tuesday
March 31st, on the project,
"Ready, Get Set, Sew."
Club no 1 met at Rita
Smits, and club 2 at Linda
Allister's home.
Each club did a clothes
line quiz on things learned
from this project. and each
did garment evaluation.
The Seam Rippers are
planning a skit on "A fitting
occasion," for Achievement
day to be held April 28 at
Stephen Central school.
The Seam rippers plan an
outing 'to the Ice Capades,
Tuesday in London.

Church of rod news
About 35 children, youth
and leaders met at Church of
God, Friday evening. The
children had a study time on
"Praise", and then enjoyed
recreation at the school
gym.
The youths study theme
was on "Please don't mock
me".
All joined together at the
meeting's close for lunch
refreshments.
Eleven young people from
Pioneer Park Church of God
in Kitchener, presented a
program of songs, music and
devotional. at the Sunday
evening service at Church of
God. Musical instruments
used were flutes, guitar, ac-
cordion, piano and clarinet.
The pastor from the
Kitchener church Rev. Karl
Kaefer, gave a short
devotional on "Let your light
shine." Guests and con-
gregation gathered
afterwards in the S.S. rooms
for a time of fellowship and
lunch.
United church news
The Sacrament of Baptism
was observed Sunday mor-
ning, when Brianne Megan,
daughter of Brenda and
Peter Haist, and Rebecca
Lynne,daughter of Linda and
John Wuerth were baptized.
Mrs. Eleanor Durie was
installed as a new member
of the Session of Grand Bend
United 'church.
The children's story this
morning was about the an-
tics of two frogs.
Scripture lesson was read
from 55th chapter of Isaiah,
and Rev. H. Moore's sermon
topic of "The Eternal Why".
was based on the eighth
verse.
Angie Venning sang a
solo,"Little lamb," and
choir anthem was "Giver of
the perfect gift."
The sanctuary of the
United church was beautiful-
ly decorated with bouquets
of daffodils by the Couples
club, and these were pass-
ed out to all as they left
church.

Anglican church news
• The sermon Sunday mor-
ning, at St. John's Anglican
'church. was based on scrip-
ture from Luke 23. verse 46 -
the last words -spoken by
Jesus.
Rev. G. Anderson spoke
about theHands of God - the
language of hands then and
now. and said 'that helping
hands are stretched out to
anyone in need. and that God
through faith is there to help
us all.
Coffee hour hostess follow-
ing the morning service was
Mrs. Eunice Holm.
The Anglican ladies group
met Thursday afternoon, at
the Parish hail. and the
meeting was conducted by
convener, Thelma Anderson.
The meeting opened with
prayer in unison for church
workers. A Lenten hymn, no.
440, was sung with Joan Cole
accompanying at the piano.
The ladies plan a
housecleaning bee. Wednes-
day morning at 10:30 a.m. to
clean the church kitchen in
the Parish hall.
The meeting closed with
lunch refreshments of tea
and fruit cake.
Personals
Mrs. Irene Hayter return-
ed home last Thursday night
after a three month vacation
in the St. Petersburg area of
Florida.
Twenty four ladies were in
attendance at last week's
meeting of the non-
denominational coffee Bible
hour, held at Mrs. Ruth De
Brum's home. at 12 River
Road.
This weeks meeting will
be same time and place. 9:30
a.m. Thursday. April 9.
The group will be studying
the last chapter on "The ul-
timate answer to coping
with life." Everyone
welcome.
Congratulations to
Marlene and Bill Brenner on
the arrival of their first
grandchild. when a baby boy
was born to their daughter

Grand Bend United Church
women will be held Thurs-

Mrs. Susie Devine attend-
ed a pre -birthday dinner in
her honor. at her son's, Mr.
and Mrs. Ervin Devine Sun-

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hendrick,
of Crediton. and Mr. and
Mrs. Howard Hendrick and
family of Crediton area.
Jim and Lenora Orr. have
returned home after a three
month winter holiday in Tex-
as. Lenora reported
beautiful weather with about
70 degrees Fahrenheirt.

Police have quiet week
March 29 to April 4 was a
relatively quiet week for On-
tario Provincial Police at
Pinery Park.
Only nine charges were
laid under the liquor licence
act. and only two highway
traffic act charges were
laid.
,One theft and one break
and enter were investigated.
As well, 14 miscellaneous oc-
currences were in-
vestigated.

The April meeting of the
Grand Bend Golden Agers,
with 30 in attendance was
held last Wednesday after-
noon in St. John's Parish
hall.
President Alex Hamilton,
opened with the singing of 0
Canada, and all repeating
the Lord's prayer. A sing
song of favoritenumberswas
enjoyed, accompanied by
Vera KUntz at the piano.
The minutes were read by
Marjorie Mason and
treasurer's report given by
Olive Webb.
It was announced the Zone
Rally will be held April 28, at
Vanastra.
A bus trip for the Golden
Agers is in the planning
stage for June 23.
Discussion followed on
the quilt the ladies quilted
recently.
Alex closed the business
portion of the meeting with a
humorous reading on "Last
will and testament,"
Elda Adams group were in
charge of program and she
opened by reading an eight
year old girl's definition of a
grandmother and a few
"smile" stories.
Matt Relouw entertained
with several accordion selec-
tions of Dutch and Canadian
song numbers.
Some humorous jokes
were read by Eva Bariteau.
A poem on "Friendship"
was submitted by John
Wallace, of Grand Cove, and
read by Elda Adams.
