The March meeting of the
Kirkton Women's Institute
was held in Kirkton
Woodham Community
Centre. Members en-
tertained relatives and
friends with a good at-
tendance present.
Mrs. Ronald Denham
president opened the
meeting with a reading
"Spring comes in softly"
followed by all repeating the
Ode and Mary Stewart
collect. Mrs. Ewart Crago
gave the minutes and
treasurer's report.
Correspondence was read.
It was decided to give the
Kirkton Boy Scout
Association a donation of
Euchre enjoyed
at Shipka Centre

Ten tables were in play for
the progressive euchre par-
ty -at the Community Cen-
tre, Wednesday evening.
Winners were: ladies high,
Desta Rock; ladies low,
Mrs. Elzar Masse; mens
high, Jack Pickering; mens
low, John Kingma; most
lone hands. Lorne Devine.
The south group were in
charge of lunch
refreshments and it was an-
nounced another euchre will
be held in two weeks.
Personals
Mary Russell of La Salle
spent the March school
break holidays with her
cousin Kathy Russell.
Mary retrurned home with
her aunt and uncle, Cliff and
Velma. They visited Mary's
parents Mr. and Mrs. Ivan
Russell, at La Salle also with
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Russell.
The families attended a
baby shower for niece
Katherine Baldwin, at her
mother's home in Cottam.
Sandra and Tony Fpgier,
Chris, Heather and Jillian,
of Detroit spent the weekend
here with Sandra's parents,
Ken and Ortha Baker, and
her brother Garry.
Sunday dinner guests with
John and Linda Wuerth,
following the baptism of
their baby daughter, Rebec-
ca Lynne. at Grand Bend
United Church, were the
baby's grandparents. Ray

Dashwood Men's club held
its father and child dinner
meeting. March 30 at the
community centre.
Anthony Martene. presid-
ed for the business. Guest
speaker. Ross Hallam ,
Goderich spoke on the Scout
organization. He was in-
troduced by Jack Ford. A
sing -song followed
Dashwood 4-H
The final meeting of the 4-
H club was held Monday
March 30. with the president
Kathy Schade in charge of
the business.
Achievement day is. April
28. Dashwood club 2 will
prepare an exhibit.
The leaders conducted a
"clothesline Quiz
The girls are to complete
their club evaluation and
hand in their finished gar-
ments to the leaders by April
9.

attended the "April Blossom
Ball" at the Centennial Hall.
London. Saturday evening.
Their nephew. David Rader,
was one of the escorts for
the debutantes at the ball.
Mrs. Hilda Wein accom-
panied her daughter Mrs.
A.C. Whittier. Mississauga
to her home in Dashwood for
the weekend. Miss Erma
Wein, Clinton was also

Wind damages shed
During the high winds here
on Saturday afternoon, an
implement shed on the farm
of Dick Zielman blew down.
$500., also a ;500 donation to
St. Marys Memorial Hospital
and $100 to the Erlin Lee
House.
Roll call was answered by
each member giving ad-
vantages or disadvantages
of living on a farm.
Agriculture and Canadian
Industries convenors Mrs.
Burn Blackler and Mrs.
George Burgin were in
charge of the program.
A reading was given by
Mrs. George Burgin "What a
Farmer Is". A lively sing
song was led by Mrs. Bill
Spence and Mrs. Marvin
Hartwick at the piano.
Mrs: George Burgin in-
troduced the guest speaker
for the evening, Jack
Underwood, head of
Agricultural Technology. He
spoke on energy con-
servation -Home and Around
the Farm -and alternate
ideas to conserve around the
farm.
Mrs. Burns Blackler
thanked the speaker for a
very informative talk.
Lunch was served by the
committee in charge and a
social hour followed.

Euchre at Clandeboye
Ten tables were in play at
the euchre party held at St.
James church Tuesday even-
ing with Hazel and Jim Cun-
ningham and Mary and Bob
Latta as conveners.
Prize winners were high
scores, Olive Atkinson and
Andy Thompson; low scores,
Gladys Cunningham and Art
Morgan; lone hands, Leda
Revington and Joe Carter.
Skunk prizes were given to
Mae Bowman, Dorothy
Darling, Chas. Rollings and
Evan Hodgins.
Returning this weekend
from holidays in Florida
were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cun-
ningham and Jill, Mr. and
Mrs. Gerald Lynn and fami-
ly, Ruth and Alan Hill, and
Betty and Charlie Coughlin.

returned from a winter spent
in Florida.

from a holiday in the south.

is 92 years young attended
the funeral of her brother
