Doublers lead dart league
The Doublers have ex-
tended their first place lead
in the Exeter Legion mixed
dart league to six points.
The leaders have a total of
90 points while the Itchy
Niters are in second spot
with 84 points and the Evil
Eyes are third at 82 points.
Close behind in fourth
place with 81 points are the
Winkers while the Family
Affair and Last Chance are
next with 74 points a piece.

meet the Hensall Sherwoods
in a best -of -seven series to
decide the trophy winner.
The Buckeyes are defending
champions.
The first game of the final
will be played in lfensall
Thursday night with the se-
cond contest slated for the
Zurich arena at 2 p.m. Sun-
day afternoon.
Three straight goals in the
third period allowed the
Buckeyes to pull out Mon-
day's win by a 5-4 score and
advance to the finals.
The Saints took an early
l'ad wifh the only two goals
of the first period.
Wayne Kibler converted a
pass from Randy Johnston to
put the Saints on the
scoreboard .at 17.10 of the
first period.
Only a minute later Joe
Boyle out the College team
two goals in front as he com-
pleted a three-way passing
combination with Dave
McFadden and Ed
Michniewicz.
In the second frame.
Gerald Weido notched the
first Zurich goal on passes
from Kerry Bedard and Kim
McKinnon at 7.02.
It took the Saints only two
minutes to get that goal back
as EdMichniewiczregistered
on a three-way effort with
Ken Vanos and Joe Boyle.
Near the midway mark of
the period, Kris Bedard cut
the Zurich deficit to a single
goal as he scored on a pass
from Gerald Weido.
The Buckeyes tied the
score at 4.14 of the final
period on a successful shot
by captain John Graham.
Steve Bedour assisted.
Kerry Bedard scored on an
unassisted effort at 14.45 to
put the Zurich club ahead for
the first time and with less
than four minutes left, Ran-
dy McKinnon fired what
proved to be the winning
goal on a pass from Rick
Schilbe.
The Saints put on the
The Buckeyes took a two
games to one lead in the
series with a 5-3 victory at
the Stephen township arena,
Thursday night.
Most of the scoring came
in the third period after the
Saints scored in the first
period and the Buckeyes tied
the count in the middle
frame.
The only goal of the first 20
minutes of play came from
the stick of Ed Michniewicz
of the College on a pass from
Ken Vanos at 7:49.
The Buckeyes got back on
even terms at the midway
point of the second period on
a successful shot by Randy
McKinnon on a pass from
Steve Bedour.
The score remained tied
until 8:12 of the final session
when Kim McKinnon fired a
shot into the Centralia net on

A dramatic game ending
shoot-out between novice
players from Zurich and
Strathroy was the highlight
of the Zurich novice tour-
nament, Saturday.
In the B (consolation) final
game, a ten minute overtime
period failed to break a 3-3
tie. After a five player shoot-
out, Zurich had defeated
Strathroy 5-3.
Zurich had opened the
scoring in the second period
off a goal by Dale Miller,
assisted by Wade Suplat.
Strathroy tied it up in the
third, but Zurich fired in two
quick goals near the half way
point to lead 3-1. Bob Van-
derworp and Paul Deichert
scored for Zurich.
As the third period was
winding down, Strathroy tied
the game and sent it into
overtime.
After a scoreless overtime,
tension was running high as
the shoot-out began The first
two players from both teams
missed, but Zltrich's third
shooter, Terry Hoffman,
added another unanswered
point
Then the fourth players
headed towards the nets. The
Strathroy player bounced
one off goalie Stephen
Schantz's pads, but Zurich's
Dale Miller had scored the
winning goal.
With only one player left to
shoot, Strathroy couldn't
overcome Zurich's two goal
lead. Zurich won the B final
5-3.
The A final was won by
Clinton, after defeating an
Elma Logan team 1-0.
The first round saw Clinton
defeat Ilensall 3-0, Friday
night.
The second first round
game was also Friday night.
Huron Park defeated Zurich
3 - 2 .
Jason Schilbe, assisted by
Paul Deichert and Dale
Miller; and Paul Dichert
scored for Zurich,
Steve Dubarry scored
three times for Huron Park,
once assisted by Colin
Insley.
Huron Park went on to be
defeated on the A side by
Clinton, 3-2.

DuBarry was named most
valuable player for Huron
Park's second round game.
On the B side, a goal by
Zurich's Bob Vandeworp,
assisted by Justin Scott, won
Vandeworp the most
valuable player award, and
Zurich the game. Hensall
was defeated 1-0.
John Rooseboom was most
valuable player for Hensall.

Other first round games
saw Elma Logan defeat
Strathroy 3-1 and Watford
beat Blyth 1-0.
Elma Logan beat Watford
3-0 and moved to the A final
against Clinton. Strathroy
beat Blyth 4-2, before
meeting Zurich in the B final
game.
Trophies were awarded to
the A and B champions, and
the most valuable players
from the second round
games.

seconds later on a play set up
by Ken Vanos and Ed
