Homily was based on the
Gospel of John 4: 5-26, 39-42
"The Woman at the Well".
Jesus was crossing
through Samaria on His way
to Galilee when tired and
thirsty he sat down by
Jacob's well. A samaritan
woman came for water and
Jesus opened the con-
versation by asking her for a
drink.
She was surprised that a
Jew would ask her for
anything because the
Samaritans were despised
by the Jews, however, by
asking her for this drink
Jesus, in fact, is saying to
her "It is really O.K. who
you are and what you have
done because I accept you as
you are". He tells her that
she does not realize who
is asking her, and that He
himself could give her
"living water" which would
be a lasting source of life.
Jesus knew without asking

thirsty for this living water
which he had offered. It was
in her weakness that she
accepted Jesus and was able
to open up and be healed.
Like the Samaritan
woman we, too, must offer
ourselves to Jesus and to our
fellow Christians. It is in our
weaknesses we accept each
other and when we are able
to do this we will find peace
with God, our neighbor and
ourselves.
