at WI meeting
CIANDEBOYE
Mrs. Bruce Henry was
hostess for the March
meeting of the Clandeboye
Women's Institute Mrs.
Harold Hardy presided. Mrs.
Roy Cunningham acted as
secretary in the absence of
Mrs. Lynn.
Thirteen members an-
swered the roll call with a
Blue's Chaser. During the
business many things were
discussed such as raising of
fees, bustrips, program
planning, fund raising and
annual trip to Huron Country
Playhouse.
A donation of $25 was voted
to the Home for Battered
Wives in London Mrs. Alan
Hill will attend the Officer's
Conference in May at
Waterloo University.
A letter from Mrs. Joan
Parkinson in England ex-
plaining W.I. programs in
their country was read by
Mrs. Art Hodgins.
The Institute programs in
England are made up of
small competitions and
speakers, no convenerships
such as we have in Canadian
W.I. porgrams, no Institute
Ode or Mary StewartCollect.
Mrs. M. Heffernan read an
article on the signs of spring
and Mrs. Henry conducted a
surprise package guessing
game which was won by
Mrs. R. Worthington.
Lunch convener, Mrs. Jim
Cunningham served a
delicious lunch and a social
time was enjoyed.

Mrs. Dorothy Joyce,
Windsor spent the weekend
with her sister, Mrs. Rupert
Williams, also visited with
her other sister, Mrs. George
Lee of Brinsley.
Irene and Gerald Lynn
returned Saturday from a
week's holiday in Puerto

Service was cancelled in
Clandeboye United Church
Sunday due to the illness of
Rev. Keith Brown also
pianist, Winnie Robicheau.
Following a dinner in
Exeter, Andy and Marion
Thompson were hosts for a
Thompson get-together
Sunday evening in honour of
Florence Hodgins, Lucan
who was having a birthday.
Also attending were Edythe
Watson, Kay Haggar,
Stewart Thompson, Grace
and Wilfred Dixon.
UCW plans
Sunshine group

A delegation from
Brucefield church presented
a plan to form a young
member joint group to be
called the "Sunshine Girls".
Ladies of Kippen gave ap-
proval to the plan.
Kippen UCW met on
March 10 at the church. Mrs.
G. Moffatt gave the worship
from the theme "Respon-
sibility"
Hostesses Mrs. Keith
Lovell and Mrs. Bert Faber
took the offering which Mrs
Moffatt dedicated with
prayer. Mrs. Moffatt read a
poem "Our Life" Worship
closed with prayer.
Mrs. Bert Faber gave
correspondence report.
treasurer's report and
flower report. Mrs. Percy
Wright gave the visitors
report.
Mrs. Bert Faber presented
the topic taken from the
booklet "Compasison of
Canada" an address written
by Jack Burghardt 'Not h>
bread alone".
Fall Thankoffering will be
held in Kippen and the ladies
will serve dessert and tea .\
