Grand Bend council
Firemen reject wage
Continued from page 3 A
In another delegation
before council, the village
agreed to rent property along
River Road to a sailing
school.
Bill Stevens and Dave
Langdon of Sportechnique, a
division of Dalphin Sails,
approached council about
renting the land where the
septic tank beds are located,
next to the public washrooms
across from the boat ramp.
They said they would like to
park their four or five 16 foot
sail boats there for the
summer. The boats would be
launched daily for sailing
lessons.
Council agreed to let them
use the land for a fee of $200.
They were also told that they
would have to pay $300 for a
transient trader's permit.
The sailing school
representatives said they
would like to operate day and
evening classes for youths
and adults. Lessons would
run for three hours, and a
total of ten lesson would be
required. They will be using
Canadian Yachting
Association standards, they
said.
In other business:
Council decided to invite
representatives from the
Lambton County Board of
Education to their next
meeting to discuss economic
problems at Grand Bend
Public School.
Village foreman Jack
Stanlake attended the
meeting to discuss
