Interview six of 20 applicants for rec centre
About 20 applications have
been received for the posi-
tion of administrator for the
South Huron rec centre, the
board of management learn-
ed at their meeting, Wednes-
day.
Exeter Mayor Bruce Shaw
proposed the board
members individually write
out a list of qualities they
feel is needed for the posi-
tion, so the people inter-
viewing will have a guideline
of the type of person the
board requires.
Shaw said the applications
were from all over Ontario
and he said he was pleased
with the experience and the
service to the community of
the applicants.
The field has been narrow-
ed to six 'to be interviewed.
Shaw said he would like to
check in detail the
backgrounds of the
applicants.
Shaw, board chairman
Jerry MacLean, and any
board member who wishes
to sit in. will conduct the in-
terviews beginning Satur-
daThe board also approved
the rec centre accounts, but
questioned an expenditure of
$749 for a hood to keep ice
from building -up on the
arena's ventilating fan.
MacLean said emergency
repair expenditures up to
$500 could be incurred
without the board's ap-
proval.
The ice build up was a con-
tinuing problem and
members noted it could
have been considered as
repair and maintenance.
Board member Bill Mickle
said at least two prices
should have been found
before the work was done
and he later moved the
board review the $500 limit.
,The board voted to alter a
pamphlet that advertised the
hall rental in error. The hall
is paid for in a flat rate until
2 a.m. After 2 a.m. there is a
$50 per hour charge. The
pamphlet said the additional
charge came into effect
after 2:30 a.m.
Secretary Janet Wedlake
said anyone presently
holding a hall contract will
be notified of the change in
the pamphlet. The contracts
state the correct time.
The additional charge is to
assist' in clearing the hall
after an event.
Wedlake said the hall was
booked almost every Satur-
day in 1981. and some Satur-
days in 1982. A $50 deposit is
placed when the hall is book-
ed. People are shown the
1981 prices,. and notified they
may not be in effect when
contracts for 1982 are sign-
ed.

Hangenboom said that the

mention has been made of

He said that he personally

tion of funding become an

Elston, a 31 year-old

Ironically, the candidate
