HAROLD DAVIS Woodham United Church, Kirkton United and St. Paul's Anglican held a joint service at the Kirkton- Woodham Community Cen- tre Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. with a large atten- dance. The service was led by Rev. Greg Smith of St. Paul's Church: Rev. King of the United Church took as WOMEN'S GUIDE The Ontario Status of Women Council has prepareda questionnaire titl- ed A Woman's Guide to the Ontario Election to bring women's issues to the forefront in the current provincial election. The collection was taken up by the Boy Scouts. Following the service a pancake and sausage dinner was served. Rev Ralph King who came to the Kirkton-Woodham Pastoral charge of the United Church from Metropolitan church in Lon- don. was inducted by of- ficers of Huron -Perth Presbytery on Monday even- ing. February 9. Rev Donald Pletch, Mitchell preached the ser- mon. The induction was un- der the supervision of Rev Rae Grant, Listowel chair- man of Presbytery with Rev Eric Ledrew of Brussels, Presbytery Secretary reading the "call" as Mr. King was presented to the chairman. Rev King is not new to Huron -Perth Presbytery having served five years as minister of North Street con- gregation in Goderich from which several carloads of former parishioners came to attend the special evening. In addition there were visitors from other churches in the area, with Rev Ross Hargreaves, Thames Road bringing greetings of Presbytery's behalf. This part of the gathering was chaired by the recording steward of the Pastoral charge Mr. Len Thacker who also called on Rev Greg Smith for a welcome on behalf of the Anglican Parish, as well as Mrs. George Burgin and Mrs. Lloyd Jacques who extended a welcome for Kirkton and Woodham U.C.W.'s. Gerald Prout also brought greetings from Usborne Township council. The even- ing closed with a time of fellowship and lunch served by the ladies of the Pastoral charge. Mr. and Mrs. King (Corinne) look forward to happy associations not only with their own con- gregations but with all the people of the Kirkton- Woodham area. The Kings have a family of three, two daughters. Elizabeth (Mrs. Barry Smith), Corunna, Catherine (Mrs. Paul Gener- man). London and a son David. Embro. WILLIAM ROHDE THAMES ROAD The family of Mrs. Mary Hodgert, Exeter held a celebration in honour of her 80th birthday. Friday evening Mr. & Mrs. Arnold Cann., Mr. & Mrs. Ross Hodgert and Mr. & Mrs. Reg Hodgert had a family dinner in her honour. Sunday they entertained at the Three AAA See restaurant. The St. Marys Anglican Church' Guild was held Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Gerald Wright with Mrs. Wright being in charge of the meeting. Two quilts are being made by the ladies. received many cards of congratulations, as well as a number of beautiful floral arrangements and gifts from friends. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Hodgert, Mr. & Mrs. Ted Kernick, Mr. & Mrs. Rick Parker, Mr. & Mrs. David Passmore, and Mr. & Mrs. Paul Passmore spent most of last week in the H untsville area snowmobiling. Mr. & Mrs. Russell Morley, Exeter visited Friday evening with Mr. & Mrs. William Rohde. Misses Mary Durfey, Winona, Susan Spring, Kitchener, Barbara Miller, Toronto, Mary Elizabeth Callaghan, Linda Callaghan, Mr. Tom Callaghan, Lindsay and Mr. Westlake, Bolton were weekend guests with Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Miller and Brian. Everyone sang several songs then split into groups for discussion "Strengthening the Family Fortress" This was followed by an old fashioned box social for lunch which brought an enjoyable evening to a close. The official board meeting will be held Wednesday evening at 8:30 p.m. in Elimville United Church. All members are asked to be present. Kippen folk enjoy south By MRS. Mr. & Mrs. Harold Jones visited with Mr. & Mrs. Arnold Gackstetter in Guelph on the weekend. It's bad luck to have thirteen people seated at the table—when you're paying for the dinner.
