Parkhill suspended by South Huron
For the second year in
succession a team has been
suspended from the South
Huron intermediate hockey
league.
League president John
Stephens of Exeter told the
T -A Tuesday morning. "The
Parkhill Merchants have
been suspended for the
balance of this season for
use of illegal players and
Darrell Ulrich of Forest has
also been suspended."
Ulrich played last season
and part of this season with
the Geleen Smokeaters in
Holland and did not receive
proper releases from that
club and the Dutch Ice
Hockey. Federation.
Stephens continued, "It's
been standard procedure to
check all playing cer-
tificates after the January 10
signing deadline and that's
when we found irregularities
in the Parkhill players
cards."
He added, "It wasn't an
easy thing to do, but, the
league constitution has to be
upheld. We hope Parkhill
returns next year. They have
a good solid franchise."
The Parkhill players with
improper playing cards
were Joe Falsetti, Pete Gil,
Wes Lockhart, John
Jongeneel, Wayne Currie
and Paul Kremer.
Paul Pooley leads
Exeter's Paul Pooley has
taken over the scoring lead
with the Ohio State
University hockey
Buckeyes.
Paul scored two third
period goals as the Buckeyes
beat Western Michigan 6-0.
He picked up one assist in
that game and one assist the
previous night as his club
edged Western Michigan 3-2.
He now has 16 goals and 19
assists for 35 points and is
fourth in the scoring stan-
dings in the CCHA con-
ference.
Twin brother Perry is 12th
in team scoring with six
goals and 10 assists for 16
points. Both have played 22
of the club's 23 games.
The Buckeyes remain in
first place in the Central
Collegiate Hockey
Association with 10 wins and
only one loss. Their overall
record including exhibition
play is 17 wins and six
defeats.
Last year the Thedford
team was suspended for use
of illegal players.
Statisitcs from all games
played by Parkhill are being
eliminated and any club with
points gained from a win or
tie with Parkhill will lose
those points.
The Forest situation is a
little different. Statistics for
that club are scrubbed for
only the fames in which
Darrel Ulrich pia ed.
Likewise, teams that lost
to or tied with Forest while
the illegal player was used
will receive additional
points.
Games in which Ulrich
did not play are not affected.
