Tom Coates, also a defenceman is just getting back into full swing after missing seven weeks due to a knee injury. Nairn said a number of United States universities have sent scouts in to take a look at his team for possible scholarship candidates. They are not allowed to talk to players until they are in at least grade 12. Both Shaw and Coates are grade 11 students at South Huron District High School in Exeter. The Stratford coach continued, "I couldn't be any happier with the two Exeter boys. They are easy to coach and have A-1 attitudes." "They will both have big decisions to make after th= June draft. We would like to keep them for at least another year" said Nairn. He added, "It's hard to beat a good education. I +, finished my grade 13 while I playing with the Niagara Falls Flyers. It's getting tougher now to continue education while playing Junior "A" because of the increased travel. It takes an exceptional student to handle both." The Stratford Cullitons are currently in second place in . the Midwestern Junior "B" league, five points behind the leading Waterloo Siskins. While the Cullitons have two games in hand over Waterloo Nairn says, "We must win all remaining seven games to finish in first place." Friday night the Cullitons beat Waterloo 4-2. The . Stratford executive turned over $2,000 from the game to David Hawkins of Oakville. who is paralized bacause of an injury received in a pre-' season exhibition game withf the Cullitons.
