This week we wets shown several
grains of wheat. not unlike the regu-
lar kernel of wheat, but when broken
contained nothing but snout. There
has been quite a bit of snout in the
wheal this season which means a loss
to the flume' as well Ili the miller,
Last year attention was called to this
and some of the farmters treated their
wheat bcfott' sowing while others ran
the risk and consequently Rout is in
on the increase. The loss falls upon
the farmer patticularly, yet the iniller
suffers to a certain extent, but even-
tually the farther roust staler as the
miller cannot pay the price for gocd
wheat when mixed with smutty
wheat. There is a rrevcntatiye for
smut in wheat. The preventative is
the sante as is used for smolt in oats.
