on Apiil 26tH, Sir Joseph \Yard ad-
vocated a speedier steamship service
between these islands and the colon-
ies. it was noticed that Sir Wilfred
Laurier applauded. A conference
was held between Sir Wilfred and
the promoters of the Illacksod Day -
/Halifax scheme, in which the Cana-
dian Premier betrayed deep interest
in the project. On May 2nd. Sir
[Wilfred Laurier suggested that the
