day evening was 'largely attended.
There were a dargc number of mas-
g11e1-::dors !and the iroetumes were
the best seen in Exeter. Vau•ioust
nationalities were represented, while
comic costumes were in abundance.
Mrs. (Dr.) Amos, ,as an Indian .prin-
cess was the winner of the: first prize
for ladies' character 'costume, and it
is doubtful if :any tribe evens had
their queen so gaudily dressed.
MiFA Jessie llabkark, of llensall, was
second, as a Jairy queen. Her cos-
tume was very ,beautiful, full white
with spreading wines. In .the #irl's
character costume little Mary 1iab-
kirk, of llensall .was awarded the.
first prize, and Lillian Antos ai an
Egyptian zirl second. Itotlt these cos-
tumes were very good. For best
