DECLINE OF CHINESE TEA.
Some Interesting statistics have been
collected by ViceConsul Arnold at Foo-
chow concerning Ilio great decline in
China's tea trade. From 1687. when len
was first introduced into England, until
1837 China held exclusively the lea trade
of the world. 'Then India begriln to enter
the tea market. The Chinese trade
reached high fide in 1886, with a total
export of 300,000,000 pounds. In 1884
China furnished about 72 per cent. of
the world's total, India and Ceylon 18
per cent., and Japan and Formosa 10
per cent. Bul in 1901, when the total
consumption had Increased to 611,000,000
pofnds, China contributed only 30 per
cent., India and Ceylon CO per cent..
Japan and Formosa 10 per cent. The
decline in China is ascribed to careless
method; of cultivation and preparation
of the leaf.
THE EVILS OF
CONSTIPATION
Why !Means Prose so Beneficial.
A anedical specialist states that eight
out of ten cases of headache, dizziness,
sallow complexion and various ailments
peculiar to women for which he is coa-
sulled have their origin in constipation.
Although the ailment is very common
among.;( 1x,U, sexes, women appear to
be the greater sufferers. Iiileans cure
constipation by stimulating the liver
and regulating the flow of bile, which
is the natural puPgalive of the body.
Mr`. S. E. Baldefil, of 38 St. Paul
Sl., Toronto, says: "1 have taken Ilil-
eans for constipation and dizziness and
found most satisfactory results. Weans
do not cause any griping, and not only
cure cnnsllpation but also Improve the
general health."
