The SI Ores are as ';,co(1 as caul he lvisl,ed for and •1he stocks At Thu present time Exeter cannot pride itself on a very material ad- vanoement over what it was two decades and a half ago. Our popula- tion then was almost what it is now, but the fact riivat bo considered that at that time, we had but a short while enjoyed railroad 'facilities. Scenes of activity were rife then. , IThere were Iwo 'grist mills, one owned oy the tato James Pickard, the other 'oy William Fenwick, who left Exeter years ago. The Fenwick mill was destroyed 'oy fire as also woe the 1'ickard Mill, but was afterwards re- built and used as a saw mill.
