Russell Crago, who has been ill for
the past two weeks with pneumonia,
was a little better. but has a relapse
and is very low at present with no
hope for recovery. -A grand musical
and literary entertainment, under the
auspices of the Musical Committee
will be held in the Anderson Methodist
church, on Thursday, Feb. 21, when
the following well-known speakers
will be present: Dr. Sparks. Dr. Knox,
John (;ray, W. H. Tovell, F.C. Thom-
as, Fred McTavish and others. -R. H.

material for his new house.- P. Spar -
ling is confined to his bed with grip.

added to the Standard Bank staff. -
Mrs. W. C. Ilodgius has returned to

Fox, who has been resiling in Van-
couver, B.C., for the past year and a
half, has returned horse owing to the
severe illness of her mother. -L. Mc-
Tavish has purchased Mrs. Jane Reith's
residence. -Jos. Hodgins has sold his
livery business to Geo. Crawley of Ex-
eter. The latter has taken possession.
Edmund Thompson was recently fined
$5 and costs for carrying concealed
weapons. --Wm. Downing has gone to
Winnipeg with a carload of horses. --
The other day Reeve Hawkshaw re-
ceived a cheque for $64 from the On•
tarn Government, being the village's
share of the Provincial railway tax. -
J. D. McKenzie. of the Sun staff, has
gone to Newbury, owing to the illness
of his father. -Miss Josie Simpson is
ill at the home of her sister in Lon-
don. --At a well attended gathering in
the Presbyterian church Monday ev-
ening the Rev. Mr. Paton, a mission-
ary from China, gave a very interest-
ing lecture on China and the Chinese,

in the Evangelical church. We trust
they will he the means of saving many

estate was sold with the exception of
the butcher shop and lot to the east,
which was sold to August Hill for

who will be the new butcher, and no

carnival was given in the rink Monday
evening. The ice was in good condi-
tion and a large number were present.

cutter, which was badly broken. Mrs.

was driving home from Ailsa Craig
his horse became frightened at some-
thing and ran away. He managed to

a few days ago the horse began to

are going to unite and build a new
