The recently elected officers of Exe-
ter Lodge, 1. O. O. F., will be installed

Rev. D. Walter Collins of the Triv-
itt Memorial church performed the
marriage ceremony uniting Gilbert
Joseph Porte and Ano Knight Sale at
Birr on Dec. 25th.

dress were presented to Mr. Hoggarth
previous to bis leaving Hillsgreen
school. He will teach this year at

nell on their successful in passing the

recently. The former obtained honors.

Mr. S. Sample, who has been teach-
ing the entrance class here for two
months, has secured a similar position
at Cohourg at $80 a month, a big ad-
vance in salary. We congratulate
him. He left on Wednesday. Mrs.
Sample and family will remain here
for a time.

The bellringers of the Trivitt Mem-
orial church performed a very pleas-
ant duty on Mondaylastby presenting
Mr. N. Dyer Hurdon, an honotary
member of their number, with a beau-
tiful neck scarf and an address. On
"state" occasions Mr. Bunion has
always been present in the tower with
them, but of late. owing to his contin-
ued ill health, he has been unable to
attend and it is for this reason the
members so kindly remembered him.
Sadden Death of Mrs- Stavta
On going into her roost on Monday
morning the daughters of Mrs. Wm.
Slavin, Gidley street, were shocked to
find her dead upon the floor. She bad
apparrently got out of bed in the
night and heart failure had caused in-
stant death. On being examined by a
doctor it was found that she bad been
dead two hours. For years she had
been in delicate health, but the sud-
den call was not in the least expected.
The late Mt•s. Slavin was born in Fer-
manaugh 70 years ago, her maiden
name being Eliza Stewart. Twenty-
two years ago, she with her husband
came to Canada and settled at Lumley.
Twelve years ago, after the death of
Mr. Slavin, the tinnily moved to town
and have since resided here. Four
daughters, two sons survive. They are
Annie, Maggie and Lizzie at home and
Mrs. Joshua Morgan who has just re-
turned from Manitoba; Thomas of
Wolseley, Assa., William of Chisel -
burst; all of whom have the sym-
pathy of the community. The funer-
al took place yesterday(Wednesday)to
McTaggart's cemetery.
