The profits were £6, 054,319, of which £64,797 was ap plied to education. Co-operative societies have incrcas cd their membership by 250,000, and their assets by £13,500,000 since 1'98. Each member of a trade union iti 190:3 had an average gross income of £1 11s., and the amount of funds per member was £3 6s. lid. . Tho trade unions show an increase of :350,000 members since 1898, and funds which have nearly doubled. On December 31, 19(13, there were 40,715 certified and post office sav- ings banks, with 29,061,152 deposi- tors; and deposits amounting to .C39,610,925.
