The exttavagance of Ludwig, the
eccentric King of Bavaria, is prover-

A diamond cross with enamelled
panels of the Saviour and the Virgin

huge emerald ring. I1is favorite
stone, however, was the sapphire,
one necklace consisting of no fewer
than ten clusters, in the centre of
which is a single stone, end another

masses of sapphires, pearls and em-
