Ailsa Craig: The body of the late
11r. Baxter, were brought here front
Port Huron on Friday, the funeral
taking place front the station to Nairn
cemetery. His wife was buried there
over ten years ago.
Mitchell: Thos. Stratchan fell over
an embankment on Monday and is so
seriously injured that his life is des-
paired of. Ile is an old man and near-
ly blind. Besides a broken rib he is
madly shaken up.
Clinton: D. L. McIntyre. superin-
tendent of the Jackson Mfg. Co., fac-
tory,has resigned his position to accept
charge of a similar industry which a
big wholesale house of Toronto pur-
poses establishing.
Seaforth: Messrs. Knechtel & Mc-
Kenzie have purchased the oldest and
leading furniture business in Regina,
Sask.. and intend closing out their
business here and pushing their for-
tunes in the great west.
Seaforth: Mies Torrance, an aged
lady and a former old resident of this
vicinity, died in London recently. The
remains were brought here Friday,
the funeral taking place Saturday to
to the Harpnt'hey cemetery.
Parkhill: Miss Edith Murphy, a
member of the Baptist church choir,
was waited on the other evening at
the hotne of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Jack-
son by the members of the choir and
presentd with a handsome necklace.
St. Marys: The resignation of Mr.
Wilkinson, commercial teacher, was
tendered and accepted by the C. I.
board Tuesday. The !resignation will
take effect Nov. let, if a suitable teach-
er can be engaged, if not at the end of
the present terrn.
Clinton: Invitations are out for the
marriage of Miss Lillian Andrews.

Mitchell: The death occurred Satur-
day of Nellie, only daughter of Mr.and
Mrs. Frederick Jane. in her 20th year.
Her illness was of several months dur-

shock to her many friends. It is said
she was such an affectionate child that
she was only absent from her mother
one night of her life.

Stanley: R. Pollock who moved to
Manitoba from here about six years
ago. had the misfortune to lose his
farm buildings by a mysterious fire on
Oct. 7th. A quantity of hay, two
stacks of oats, six pigs and a large
amount of farming equipment were
also burned. Mr. Pollock resides at
La Rivicre, Man.
Clinton: Sunday Miss Mary Stinson,
daughter of Andrew Minoan, died at
Guelph. For Noone year's she has been
in poor health and it was to receive
treatment that she went to Guelph
two weeks ago. The remains were
brought here Monday and Tuesday
morning the funeral took place to the
Bayfield cemetery.
Mitchell: The marriage of deaf and
dumb mantes were solemnized Thurs-
day afternoon et the residence of the
bride's parents. when Miss Maggie E.,
daughter of Rolt. Fuller was marrie(l
to John Forsythe, of Stratford. The
ceremony was perfot med by Itev. W.
0. Howson. and a cousin of the bride
acted as interpretor.

Stanley: There died at the home of
Jatnes Boyce on Saturday the little
year-old child of Mr. and Mrs. McCor-
dindale. The remains were taken to
London on Saturday for burial. Mrs.
McOorkindale and children had been
visiting for the past month at the
home of her parents.
St. Marys: James Fraser. of the
Traders Bank staff, left Thursday for
Clifford. where he will be teller -ac-
countant in the same bank's branch
there. Wm. Harrison takes Mr. Frit.
