Mr. John Harrison formerly of this
plaice, went to Detroit on business the
other day, and nothing has been heard

The London Free Press of last week
says the following regarding an old
Exeter boy, and grandson of the late
.las. Stets •r :—"F..dw:u.1 Stewart, 429
Elizabeth street, was stringing a new
trolley wire for the Street Railway
Company, when the wire suddenly
snapped, Stewart was overbalanced,
and would h.tve plunged headlong to
the street bad he nut managed to jump
from the top of the tall derrick on
whieh he was standing. The lineman
alighted on the asphalt on his feet,
but want so badly injured he could not
walk. Dr. Kingsmill was called, and
found Stewart had received it severe
shaking up, and that both bis feet and
ankles were badly sprained. He will
not he around again for some days.
Stewart is Z3 years old,and has been in
the company's employ a considerable
time.

Tlle Eehtcational sermons were preach-
ed two weeks ago in the Methodist
church by the pastor, when the linen-
cial response was over 40 per cent. in
advance of last year.—An auxiliary of
the W.M.S. was organized on Thurs-
day evening by Mrs. Marshall, of
Kirkton, with the following officers;

Methodist Sabbath School are to be
congratulated upon the success of their
Anniversary Services on Sunday and
Monday. The congregations through-
out were the largest, the services and
entertainment the finest and the finan-
cial result~ the hest in the history of

ter. greatly pleased all that heard their
inspiring and eloquent sermons, While
the concert on Monday evening was
all that could be desired. The officers
and teachers who had charge of the
training as well ars the boys and the
girls who look pat t (deserve great cred-
it for the excellent program put up by
the school. Mies Godwin fairly capti-
vated her audience with het hurnerous
readings and also by her beautiful
solo. Rev. Mr, Currie, of Sarnia. also
won his way into the hearts of all by
his excellent singing and witty speech;
while Mr. Godwin greatly amused and
edified everybody with his bright, in-
teresting and instructive address.
Miss Johns, of Exeter, was the accom-
plished accompanist at the organ. Mr.
Geo. Mawhinney with his Grapho-
photte, was called hack several times
by the enthusiastic listeners. Also
Miss Morlock, who is visiting her
parents. give an excellent reading
with telling effect.. A beatitiful tab-
leau, it treat for the School, and the
Nstinnsl Anthem brought the three
hours programme to a close.

The death of Mrs. John Aikenhead
of London Road, Tuckersmith, which
occurred on Thursday of last week, is
greatly regretted by her Many friends
and acquaintances. The funeral took
place on Saturday to Baird's cemetery.
—Michael Dorsey bas sold his 50 acre
farm, Huron Road east, to Luke For-
tune for the stun of $:3,0x,0. This pur-
chase gives Mr. Fortune a splendid es-
tate of Z25 acres of as good land as can

health has not been of the beat for
some time, and this is the treason he
