LEAVIN(: iT TO THE POSTMAN.
The foreign correspondent's strug-
gles with the English language have
inspired many an amusing story of
the post -office. Smith's Weekly of
London shows that queer things are
done also by thoughtless people and
persons who try by descriptions to
supply the lack of a definite address
for their letters.
One such letter was directed. "'1'o

a wooden leg." Jean safely received
her brother's communication.

The colossal selfishness of woman,
contrasted with the nobility of mare
was her topic, and she hit out right
and left.
The following arc some of Mrs.

Men working together in the
world have learnt loyalty, unselfish-

the nobler virtues which lead the
world. They alone have a seam of
justice. of which they have a
monopoly, as well as courage, honor
and truth.
Whalen have only unlimited love
and measureless depths of selfish-
ness, coupled with morbid extremes
of unselfishness.
Women are not by nature unselfish.
When they are together in clubs and
associated in business there is no
manifestation of any sublime develop-
ment of unselfishness.
ON THEIR HEADS.
"I will give you a typical illus-
tration of this sublime selfishness of
women," she interposed. "It is
found on our heads, and is as hie
as n cart -wheel," -and Mrs Gilman
fixed her relentless gaze on a row of
picture hats.
Then she continued her aphorisms:
