wounded one of Mr. Heaman's deer so
it died and Mr. Frank North shot the
dogs. -There will be an election of
School Trustees on Saturday. the 5th
of February. -Mr. Wm. Buchanan
left Monday to visit in Michigan. -Mr.
E. Gill spent a few days in Arkona
last week. -Mr. and Mrs. Gravelly vis-
ited in Port Franks Friday. -Mr. John
Baird and family visited near Thed-
ford for a few days last week.
I)E.tTRN.-On Saturday morning at
eight o'clock the Angel of Death vis-
ited the home of Mr. G. Henry Smith
and took away his beloved wife. Mrs.
Smith was taken ill two weeks ago
and although being under the doctor's
care at tunes during the winter she
was not thought to be seriously ill un-
til two weeks previous to ber demise
and not withstanding the careful atten-
tion of her medical adviser and that of
the devoted family and kind friends,
she gradually waned until death
claimed her. She bad reached the age
of 53 years and 29 days, and leaves to
mourn her decease a loving husband
and mother and two sisters and four
brothers, who have the sympathy of
all in this their sad bereavement.
The funeral was largely attended on
Monday, showing the high esteem in
which she was held.- -Mrs. Jas,Wilson
of Brewster died on Monday [Horning,
the 31st ult.

The annual meeting Of the South Hur-
on County Orange Lodge was held here
on Tuesday last. Delegates were here
from all parts of Inc district, number -
lag about suety -five. The business tran-
sactions of the meeting revealed the fart
that all branches of the order were mak-
ing' steady inmprovenment, showing that
the Institution is In a healthy condition
financially and otherwise, and gives
promise of a very bright future. It
was decided to hold the nett annual
meeting In Exeter, and to Join with, the
Perth brethrr.: in celebrating the 12th

Macdonald -Davis --A very pleasant ev-
ent took place at the residence of Mr.
and Mrs \Von. Davis of Saintsbury on
Wednesday, Jan. 26th. blah noon, when
their daughter, \ftnuie E., a highly es-
teemed young lady, was united in mar-
riage to Mr. Alexander Macdonald of
London. Tr( bridal procession entered
the parlor to the sweet strains of the
Highland March. played by the Macdon-
ald and Pasntan musicians of London.
Rev. Mr. fleecy of Kirkton performed
the ceremony under an arch of ever-
greens and flags. The bride looked
beautiful dressed in white mull, trimmed
with lace and insertion. Site carried a
beautiful bouquet of white carnations,
and entered the parlor leaning on the
arm of her father, who gave her away.
Mise Sara Neli of London, aunt of the
bride, acted as bridesmaid and was
dressed In white lawn and carried
white cantations. The groan' was as-
sisted by his brother, Mi. D. Macdonald
of London. After congratulations all en-
tered the dining room which was taste-
fully decorated with flags. bunting and
flowers. The young couple were the re-
iplrnts of many costly Presents. Mr.
and Mrs. Macdonald will take up their

lar young lady in the person of Miss
Margaret Louisa, third daughter of Mr.

ceptionally fine one for the canning ir-
duatry and the Exeter Factory 1s now

BURIED HIS MOTHER. -Mr. W. 13.
Weidenhanrner, principal of the Exeter
school, was in Elmira during the week
attending the funeral of his mother,Mrs
Cttlstopner Weldenhantmer, who died on
''tursday last, at the age of 84 yearn,
• months. The funeral was held Settle-
, my. Mr. and Mrs. Wefdenhamnu 1 carte
:rom Germany in 1845. Her husband
p:eaeccased her by 'ourteen years. Seven
scats and three daughters, eighty grand
children and seventeen great grand child
ren survive. The sympathy of the com-
muelty is extended to Mr. Weidenhant-
nter.

very pretty wedding took place yester-
day (Wednesday) at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Daniel McKillop, (sister of
tho bride), \Vest Lorne, when Miss Eliz-
abeth McQueen became the bride of Dr.
John Edward McGillicuddy of Exeter,
The affair was of a quiet nature, only
the immediate relatives of the contract-
ing parties being present. The bride
and groom were unattended, save by
little ;Mss Florence McKillop. niece pi
the bride, acting as ring bearer. After
congratulations a dainty wedding repast
was served, at the conclusion of which
Dr. and Mrs. McGillicuddy left for Chic-
ago, Detroit and elsewhere, where the
honeymoon will be spent. The Young
couple are popular in social circles and
will have the best wishes o1 all for a
log and happy marled life. On their

where the doctor enjoys a large medical
practice.
