ia Roman Catholic Church In Ilion, had

Rev. Mr. Quinn had a dispute with y,

occupied a house which he wanted Doe-

court proceedings and failed. The
trouble was of long standing, and it is
understood that the bishop finally dir-
ected Father Quinn to make an apology
to the woman. It is said that he feel-
ing that he was not In duty bound to
take this step, so notified Bishop Burke
and immediately resigned ,his ,pastor-
ate.

Walker of the '_lid con. of Stephen re-
ceived word Tuesday of the death of
his daughter -In-law., Mrs. Albert Walker
of North 13attleford, Sask. Death was
due• to lung trouble. The husband and
truce children survive.
BASEBALL. -The Exeter team drove
over to Farquhar on Tuesday evening
and played a game with the Farquhar
boys, resulting I:, favor of the visitors
14-7. The game was better than the
score indicated, Exeter getting all their
lead in the firat innings when they
made seven rune. Boyle and Hoskins
did the pitching and receiving for Exe-
te.• and did it well. They received good
support from the other players.
I)UNCAN MrKAY DEAD. -After an 111
Tress of only a few hours the ' death
oncurred Saturday evening about 7.30
in Exaer North of Duncan McKay, one
of the pioneer residents of the district,
at the age of 72 years, 3 months. Mr.
McKay had for many years been an
employe in the foyndry here and on
Saturday morning he went to his work
as usual, but after working an 'blur
complained ,of being 111 and went to his
home, where after a few hours he pas-
sed away, death being due to heart
trouble. Born in Golsple• North Scot-
land, he came to Canada 53 years ago,
settling firat in Woodstock, where he
remained one year, then coming to Ex-
eter where he has since resided. Of an
Industrious, quiet and honorable dis-
position he was generally respected aid
esteemed, and was an elder In the
Presbyterian church. Ills wife, Agnes
Jeffery, died in February last. Two
sons and two daughters survive, Don-
ald In Nebraska, John J.. 1n DOOR,
Mrs. Askin of Carthage, Ont., and Miss
Lizzie at home. The funeral took place
on Tuesday t o the Exeter cemetery,
and was largely attended.
