"Why 1 recommend I)r. Williams' Pink Pills." St. Andrew's Manse. Cardigan, P.E.I., Jan. 1908. Though 1 have never been sick myself, and have not had occasion to use Ur. 1Villiams' Pink Pilis, 1 thought you ought to know of the remarkable cure they have wrought in Mr. Oftling's case. During a visit to my home in Merigomish, N. some years ago, I was grieved to find our next door neighbor and friend, Michael Old- ing, very low. "He is not expected to live," my mother informed me, "And you must go over and see him as he is liable to pass away at any moment." "Notexpected to lite,'' that was the opinion not only of the doctor who attended hiin, but of his wife and family as well. Upon visiting him myself I found abund- ant evidence to confirm their opin- ion. Mr. Olding had for years been afflicted with asthma and bronchitis, but now a complication of diseases was ravishing his system. He had been confined to his bed for months and was reduced to a skeleton. Though evidently glad to see me, he conversed with the greatest diffi- culty, and seemed to realize that it was the beginning of the end. He was daily growing weaker ; his feet were swollen to twice their natural size, and the cold hand of death was upon his brow. "It's no use," )i.e said feebly, "the doctors medi- cine is not helning me and I am go- ing down rapidly." I prayed with him as for a man soon to pass into eternity, and when I took his hand in parting it was the last time I ex - peeled to see him in the flesh. Three years later while on another visit to my mother's Michael Old- ing was seemingly in better health Ilion on the turtle's back ; and if it INDEED THEY is hungry, why, while the barnacles in their fixed places are reaching out with their delicate fingers and sweeping the adjacent waters as with a net to draw in this susten- ance the sailor crab can move about in the vegetation and find food. BURCL.UI'S CURIOUS MISTAKE How Stolen Jewelry Came Into the Hands of tl'e Police. Jewelry and gold watches to the value ofX400 have been handed in at 'Scotland Yard under extraordinary circumstances, says the London Standard. A woman was travelling outside an omnibus from Paddington to- ward Edgware road carrying with her a brown paper parcel containing two ,ounis of soap. She alighted at Westbourne grove, taking with her what she thought to be the par- cel she had been carrying. During her journey a well dressed man sat next to her, also carrying a brown paper parcel. He left the omnibus a short time before she reached her destination. Reaching home she was astonished to find in- stead of the soap the jewelry and watches, which she conveyed to Scotland Yard. It has been ascertained by the police that the jewelry formed the proceeds of a burglary at Maida Vale a week ago. It is believed that the elan was on the any to the reeeiver at the time he made the singular exchange of parcels. THE SAILOR CRAB. Makes Long Voyages at Sea on the Backs of Turtles.
