pneumonia. He was a well-known auct-
toncer and seed expert. He married Miss
Maggie Coultis of Forest, cousin of Mr.
Wm. Coultis of Exeter, and she, with
four children, survives.
When you hear a man sneering at the

one of the strongest sermons of the

The Ladles' Aid of James Street Meth-
odist church cleared about $50 Mon-
day evening at the Lecture given by (Rev.

On Thursday last Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
Davis of Exeter North celebrated the
50th anniversary of their wedding at
their home, when they were presented
with a purse of gold and an address by
tete children and a number of other pres-
ents from (ramie a:.d rel.itives. A most'
enjoyable time was spent In social
anruecnteuta and a sumptuous supper
served. Mr. and airs. Davis have been
respected rcetdents for 34 years, and
they have raised a family of eleven
children all of whom are living. Eight
were present at the anniversary, -Wil -
Ilam of Hamilton; Mrs. Dr. McDonald
of Hollandale, Wis.; Mrs. Gardiner of
Essex; Mrs. Dickson of St. Catharines
Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Mitchell and Abca=
harp of London; Ernie of Exeter. The
absent ones are George of Rainy River
District ; Warner of Mooue'jaw, Sask.;
and Dirs. Terry of Hollandale, Wis. The
