ment of our town was reorganized. A

ere Tuesday morning last and the re-
mains were interred in the Evangelical
cemetery 1Veduesday afternoon, the
funeral taking place from the resi-
dence of his grandfather, Jacob Sweit-
zer. His two chums, SAM. Vaelker
and John \Vein of Detroit accompan-
ied the retuains here. Mr. Sweitzer
was untitled of his illness on Saturday
night and left at once for Detroit but
arrived too late to bee hint alive. Iiia
blether Eddie of Hauuver attended the
funeral. The bereaved family have the
sympathy of the entire community.

Bend, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. R.

Kading and child, of Parkhill, spent
part of last week with her relatives,

M. Hodgins, who has so successfully
conducted S. S. No. 10 for the past two
and a half years, has tendered her res-
ignation, to take effect at the close of
the year RMS. We are sorry to lose
such a painstakieg and efficient teach-
er as Miss Hodgins has proved herself
to he. Miss Minnie Sherritt, the pres-
ent teacher on A. B. Line, bas accepted
a position in Khiva School at an ad-
vanced salary, consequently theSchool
Board are advertising for another
teacher.—The Bell Telephone Com-
pany's men are at work putting in a
branch line to Mr. 1Villiaw Mellin's
residence, one and a quarter wiles
west of Harpley P. O. This will be a
great convenience to Mr. Mellin and
residents in bis locality.

SHOOTING MATCH. — The annual
shooting match of the Hodgervilte
Gan Club was held on Thursday last
and was well attended. Sides were
chosen by Messrs, Chas. and Daniel
Dew to shoot for an oyster supper,
and three prizes were offered on each
for those waking the best score. Vic-
tory went in (avis of Mr, Chas. Dew's
side, by a score ot 13 over their oppon-
ents, and the priz- I were won as fol-
lows: Chas. Dew's side—Ed. Willis
turkey), Edgar Munn (duck), Frank
Ross (box of cartridges). Dan. Dew's
side—Arthur Dick (turkey), Jos. Case
(duck), John Coleman (box of cartrid-
ges). After the supper the usual
dance followed at the home of Mr. A.
Willard.

her cousin Miss Bertha Cunningham.
—Mrs. Case is spending a few days
with her parents in St. Marys.—Miss
Jennie Cunningham is recovering from
her recent illness.—More wedding bells
in the near future.—Mrs. D. Cunning-
ham visited in London last week.
MARtuAuE.—The residence of Mr. A.
Patton was the scene at a very pretty
wedding on Monday, Nov. 23rd, when
Miss Lizzie Patton was united in the
holy bands of wedlock to Mr. Carling
of Cleveland, Ohio. Rev. Kerr per-
formed the interesting ceremony in
the presence of a number of guests.
The bride was handsomely attired in
a gown of white silk and her travelling
costume was of navy blue cloth with
hat to match. A dainty and appetitiz-
ing lunch was served to the guests.
The popularity of the bride was amply
demonstrated by the magnificent ar-
ray of handsome and numerous gifts.
The happy couple left on the evening
trainfor their future home in Cleve-
land. The best wishes of all are theirs
for a long and happy married life.

John Gellman of the lith Con., un-
derwent an operation recently, at the
bands of 1)r, Gunn of Clinton, and is
repot ted as doing nicely.—J. I'reeter
took a business trip to Toronto last
week.- S. Itannie is erecting a hand-
some frame dwelling on the corner,
opposite the Evangelical church.—Dr.
1Vilson was called by telegram to
Chicago on Wednesday, owing to the
serious illness of his brother. The
patient is said to have contracted s.,me
form of glanders, and was hurried to
Chicago for treatment.—John Gellman
of the 14th Con., broke four ribs on
Thanksgiving i)..y, by beim/ do own
out of e► buggy, his driver ht -c oning
unuianagealle at the sight of a trac-
tion engine on the road. The injury
is very ptiuful,and Mr. Gellman will
likely bo laid rap for Son1e weeks.

very robust health and several weeks

Clinton:—Walker & Reiss have dis-
solved partnership. Mr. Walker will
continue the furniture business while
Mr. Koss will deal in pianos and or-
gans, retraining also an interest in the
undertaking. The latter expects to
leave in a few days on a business trip
to the West.
Clinton: Linder & \Vatsou disposed
of their grocery- stock to Mr. B. H. Mc-
Ewen. lair. Watson remains with the
new proprietor, but Mr. Linder pro-
poses moving to 'Toronto, and "go
on the road" as a comme-,ial travel-
ler.
