the list of Pathtnasters: Otto Miller in

Zurich, were granted a credit of ;3500
for current expenses, until the taxes
are collected. Notice was given that
a By -Law will be introduced at next
tuectiug of council, to authorize the
opening of roads and streets in the
Township, required for general use of
the Public. After passing accounts
amounting to $200.3t1, the council ad-
journed to meet again on Monday the
1st of June, as a Court of Itevision of
the Assessment Roll, and for general

Mrs. Duncan Taylor of the Parr Line,
who for some time has been suffering
from nervous prostation was taken to
London Hospital last week.—Miss
Jenny Murray has vacated her resid-
ence on King st., and H. Arnold has
moved in.—Robert Higgins has return-
ed from the West. He states that he
found everything at a complete stand-
still out there and hundreds of men
idle.—Preparatory services will be
held in Carmel church on Friday, May
155th, by Rev. Srnall of Blyth when
quite a number have expressed a desire
to join the church. The Communion
will ,be administered on Sunday, May
Council met at Township Hall on
May 2nd. All the members were pres-

The contract to build a flat top rein-
forced concrete bridge and abutments
on conet•ssions 0 and 1, near Lumley,
was let to Messrs. Nagel & Looby, of
Dublin, for $313.00.
The contract to construct the cov-
ered portion of the Stewart Drain was
let to Fred Ellerington for the sum of
$317,110.
Mr. John Roger, O,L.S•. of Mitchell,
was instructed to examine the Gardi-
ner Drain, and make his report and
estimate for repairing said drain.
The Council will meet as a Coutt of
Revision of the Assessment Roll for
1908 of the Township of Ushorno at
Township Hall, on Saturday, June Oth,
at 10 o'clock in the forenoon.
Accounts amounting to $125.00 were
passed and orders issued in payment.
Council then adjourned to meet June
0th, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon.

in this neighborhood are going into it
more extensively than ever, Mr. Fred

Mrs. (Rev.) Martin, who recently re-
turned from Battle Creek, shows con-
siderable improvement and the many
friends hope it may continue.

Almost every mail brings us letters
Lucau
Deaths.—Robert McRoberts, who
lived alone near here, was found by
tne neighbors on Thursday of last
week unconscious from a paralytic
stroke, He died on Saturday, never
having regained consciousness. He
was 71 years of age and was buried at
Birr cenietery on Sunday, May 10. He
is survived by his widow and four
daughters, all residents of London.—
Tbe remains of Mrs Wells were inter-
red in St. Patrick cemetery on Tues-
day, having been brought here from
Stratford. She was at one time a res-
ident of Biddulph on the Chappel line.
E.W. Anderson, who has been man-
ager of the Ailsa Craig Banner, is now
on the staff of the Lucan Sun. He has
also become the leader of our band.—
A. E. Stanley has disposed of his in-
terest in the Lucan Milling Company
to Gilflllan do Chowan.—Cecil R. Stan-
ley, manager of the Bole Drug Com-
pany, Calgary, left for the west on
Tuesday morning.

M. Kilmere and wife of Carlisle
spent Sunday with A. E. Kilmere of
the 2nd. -Mrs. J. Morgan spent a
couple of days with her father, who is
very sick in London. -J. Bloomfield of
Mooresville spent a couple of days in
the city. -Most of the farmers in this
vicinity are through seeding and are
now preparing for roots and potatoes.

days visiting with her sister, Mrs. H.
Hodgins of West McGillivray. -D.
Edwards and wife spent Sunday with
friends in Usborne.-Rev. Andrews of
Crediton was the guest of Mr. and
Mrs. A. Neil Friday. -T. Watson is
engaged to work for J. Edwards this
summer.—The Woman's Institute of
Mooresville held a meeting at Mrs. A.
Neil's on Wednesday which was a de-
cided success. The next meeting will
be held at Mrs. M. Miller's.—W. W.
Revington of Biddulph has been on his
round's renewing Insurance policies
and selling fruit trees.

Miss Ida Finkbeiner left on Tuesday
for Crediton. She will leave in a few
weeks for the West.—A very pleasant
surprise party was held et the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Bloch, on Tues-
day evening, in honor of their daugh-
ter, Miss Clara.—At a meeting held in
the Town Hall, the Zurich Bowling
Club organized. The following officers
were sleeted: Pres., B. A. Campbell;
Sec.-Treas., R. W. 'Williams; Commit-
tee, E. Zeller. A. F. Mess, C. Fritz, A.
Heideman.
Magistrate Greb had a case in the
town hall, it being a charge of assault
with an axe, preferred by Henry
Krueger against Daniel [lenhefer, both
residents of the l tth Con. The as-
sault occurred on Monday while Krue-
ger was driving along the road. The
defendent was found guilty and re-
manded to stand his trial at Goderich
at the next court of competent juris
diction. Bail was furnished, which
will save Dan a trip to the County
town at present.

solemnized very quietly at 3:30 o'clock
Wednesday, in the Talbot St. church,

another loss last Friday night, when
his driver died of acute indigestion.
Mr. Jarrott has been unfortunate this
year, four of his cattle having been
killed by a freight train about two
months ago. The sarne evening

team, was kicked by one of them in
the face. As a result four of his teeth
were loosened, his face and nose are
bruised and swollen, he was uncon-
scious for some time and lost a large
