Martin, Pastor• of the Caven Presbyterian church, celebrat- ed his 25 auuivet sary of his pastorate on Sunday last, April 50. The first Sunday in April 1883 31r. Martin took the set vices and entered into the pas- toral work of the above church. Dur- ing this 25 years 31r. Martin bas filled the pulpit on an average of 100 times during each year. In honor of this event the members and adherents of the congregation, held a church At Hotue in the bl.setnent on Monday evening, April 6th, the saute being attended by representatives of every family of the congregation. The first hour was spent in a social way, every body making themselves free and at home, at 9 o'clock being called to order by 31t'. F. W. Gladtnan, who asked all to join and sing a few verses of the familiar hymn, "All hail the power of Jesus Name," followed by a prayer from Rev. Mr. Going. Mr. Gladman explained the reason of the gathering and called upon the Rev. Mr. Urqu- hart, Pastor of the Presbyterian church, Kippen, who was present, to act as chair man. Mr. Urquhart came forward and thanked the members for the position of honor, after which a short programme of music and address- es by the Revds. Messrs. Going, Coll- ins and Fear, (resident ministers of the village), was given. At its close the following address, accompanied with a parse ofold, was read and pre- sented to air. Martin: Rev. W. M. Martin, B.D., Exeter. Dear 31r. Martin,— Twenty-five years ago on the in- vitation of the congregation of Caven Presbyterian church you became our Pastor. Many have been the changes which have taken place during that period. Few of those who were then members now remain. Numbers have come and gone as occasion has necessitated their removal to other places, while not a few have finished life's journey here and have passed beyond "unto that undiscovered country from whose bourn no traveller returns." You have been with us in prosperity and adversity, when the way has been smooth and pleasant as well as when there have been difficulties to be re- moved and discouragetnents to con- tend against. During all these years yours has been the guiding hand, your faith has never wavered, you have gone forward with confidence encouraging, comfort- ing and uplifting all with whom you have come 10 contact. The members and friends of the con- gregation feel they cannot allow the occasion of this the twenty-fifth anni- versary of your Pastorate to pass with- out in some way expressing their ap- preciation of your work and life amongst them. Mrs. Martin and your- self have won the love and respect of all. As a slight token of our esteem and some small acknowledgment of oar in- debtedness we ask you to accept this put se. It is the sincere and earnest prayer of all that Mrs. Martin may soon be restored to health and strength and that both she and you may long be spared to live and work for the Mas- ter's glory. Signed on behalf of the members and adherents of the Congregation by the Elders and Managers.—D. McKay, W. H. Muncur, Ilenry Strang, F. W. Gladman, Elders; W. D. Weekes, D. C. McInnes, Jos. Senior, Jas. Jeckell, L. C. Fleming, J. 0. Stanbury, Man- agers. Mr. Mitrtin was taken by a complete surprise, but in a few choice remarks returned thanks to one and all. The ladies of the congregation provided a nice lunch to which all present did ample justice. Thus closed one of the most harmonious meetings the mein- bets en -bets of Exeter Caven Presbyterian church ever held. Mr. Martin has announced that he intends tendering his resignation as pastor of this charge at the next Pres- bytery. Mrs. Sidney Davis, of Devon, visited friends in town the few days the past week, and her mother, Mrs. Harris, is at present visiting friends in Hen- sel). Didn't Agree with Me M. Arthur Te,:uisen, • • 1. • ton Street, Toronto, writes enthuscati...liy of the merits of Psychiuo for all stomach troubles. "Per seven years I have had indiges- tion and dyspepsia. 1 tried scores of remedies. My room resembled a drug store with nostrums whieh I had bought. Eventually I used Psychine, and every dose brought permanent relief." All throat, lung and stomach troubles quickly cured by Psychine. It is the prescription of a great specialist.
