R.: -A double track on the Huron and Bruce line from London to Wing - ham will in all probability be com- menced as soon as construction work commences on the Grand Trunk this spring. The freight business has also Been very heavy, and it is saki has in- creased more than 25 per cent. in the last nine months. In view of all these facts, and the bright outlook for busi- ness on the Bruce line, the company has decided, it is said, to build a new line and put on noire trains. Two more passenger trains, it • is under- stood, will be put on in a few weeks, and when the double track is complet- ed, more may be added. • McGillivray Before Police Magistrate Smith, at Ailsa Craig, last week William Tweedle pleaded guilty of disturbing a meeting to S. Readers of the Advocate will have read the matter contained in the two by-laws, which are to be voted on by the ratepayers on April 10th. By the Gibb By-law it is proposed to grant the Company a free site. which is now occupied by the Company, at a cost of not more than $500. By the Connor Bylaw it is proposed to grant $500 to- ward the buying of a site and to fix their assessment for other than school purposes at $500 per year. It is pro- posed in both cases that if the by-laws carry the atnounts will he paid this year, and no debenture indebtedness will be incurred. These two amounts combined are very small and will only slightly increase the taxation for this year, in return for which Exeter will have two excellent industries, which will be it credit to the town and a con- tinual source of revenue, as no person can deny that such industries are it benefit to all classes of citizens. They enhance the value of property, provide employment for workmen, increase the circulation of money. use up the otherwisee unused product of the coon. try, increase the population, and oth- erwise go toward slaking the town 111011. pe ()sperm's. in taxes alone the amounts received from these industries would pa\ it very high rate of interest on the cost to the town. it is impossible in this issue to go into the (1011119 of the agreements between the Corporation and the Conn ponies, tint for the present let it snfllc*. to say that they are favorable to the town. The Gibb Evaporator Company par- tially built their plant last year an the understanding that the bylaw which was arranged to be voted on at the municipal election wand pass. It failed to do so, for which different people give different reasons; however a public meeting desired the Council to again submit the hy•law. The Company proposes to largely increase the capacity of the evaporator and everybody should favor the bv-law, c e they should also the Connor By-law.
