A Bt -law to authorize the Muniolpal Council o
the Village of Exeter to pay to W. A. Oibb Com
pony of the City of Hamilton is the County of
Wentworth. I'ackers of Dried Fruit, the sura of

Exeter.
WHEREAS at a meeting; of the Ratepayers of
the said Village of Exeter it was resolved that
the above Its -law should be submitted to a rote
and if carried that the said sum of $500, be paid
W the said W. A. Oibb Company on the terns and
conditions set forth and contained in a preliminary
agreement made and entered into by and between
,the said Municipal Council and the said W. A. Oibb
Company.
AND WHEREAS the said Municipal Corpor-
atioa deem it advisable to give effect to Ms resolu-
tion of the said Ratepayers,
AND WiIEREAS it is necessary to appoint
the time. places and officers for taking the sotea
of duly qualified voters upon this Bylaw.
AND WHEREAS it may Ise necessary- to levy
and collect the geld sum of $500.00 byspecial rate
upon the whole rateable property of te said Village

A tin -Low to authorize the )htniripal Council of the
L itlage of Exeter to pay to The Connor Machine
Cup any, Limited, of the Village of Exeter, in the
County of lluron. Manufacturers, the,uue of S5t0.ex;
for the purchase of a site and land to be used and
occupied by the said Company for manufacturing
Gasolene and other Engines, and other machinery,
in thesaid Village of Exeter, and to grant the said
Company a fixed yearly assessment of $500.00 for all
rate, except Sch' e l rates for a period of ten years.
WHEREAS at a meeting of the ratepayers of the
said Village of Exetenit was resolved that the above
ity-law should be submitted to a vote, and if carried
that the said sum of $500.00 be paid to the acid Connor
Machine Company, L' te, and thesaid fixedyearly
assessment be granted to the said Company, on the
terms and conditions set forth and contained in a
preliminary Agreement mute and entered into by
and between the said Municipal Council and The
Connor Motor and Ms••hine Company, of the said
Village of Exeter.

Your scribe has, as yet, been unable to
understand all the intricacies of the
new fashions but according to the sty-
les, the present financial stringency
will be surely declared a myth, but the
poor old "man" won't think so. Lad-
ies this year will have a great variety
of styles in hats to select from. (creat
masses of trimmings are the predom-
inant features. Sonte are quite small,
while other's are as wide as 9...2 inches,
(Boys think of it!) Iligh Browns are
also features. Lots of flowers are used
with feathers, the floral decorations
comprising lilacs, roses, pansies, in
various shades, Iillies of the valley and
foliage. In feathers, wings are consid-
ered most stylish. Owl heads, with
icings are also strong. --Mr. C. E. M•t-
bon of Barrie has arrived here and is
acting:is I.e'dger-keeper in the Bank
of Commerce. We are pleased to see
Mr. ,tugast Kuhn re-engaged. At one
time it appeared as though he would
not 1,e. lie had become quite popular
among our• people while manager of
the Sotereigu hank and we would
have regretted to see hint sidetracked.

suddenly into our neighborhood on

residence of his sun, William, on the

in fact, he was only confined to his

Mr. Thos. Stewardson had it very
successful wood bee last week and the
people gathered in the evening and
spent it pleasant time together, -The
tnembers of L. O. L. No. 211), met at
the residence of Mrs. Paine, north of
Corbett last week and cut for her
nearly a year's supply of wood. -Mrs.
A. C'. Bell and Mrs. Vina Young each
held a wood bee this week and got a
large supply of wood cut. -The I adies'
institute gave a very interesting and
instructive entertainment in Wilson's
Hall Monday night. Mr. C. H. Wil-
son, President of the North Middlesex
Farmers' institute, acted as chairman
and gave a very instructive address. -
Robin red breast has arrived which
reminds us that spring is near. -Messrs
Ed. McPherson, W. T. Ulena and R.
R. Wilson have started to make maple
syrup.-%Vtn. Baker and bis niece
have taken up their residence on the
old homestead.
