Reeve Bobier called a meeting of th
ratepayers at the Town Hall on Tue
day evening last to hear a propositio
from Messrs. Connor Bros. A fair
attendance was present and consider-
able enthusiasm was Manifest,
The Reeve opened the meeting by
explaining the proposition of Connor
Bros., which is, in it few words, a pro-
posal to build and equip with machin-
ery a $10,000 business in return for a
grant of $500 toward the purchasing
of a site and a fixed assessment of $500
a year for 10 years (except for scboo
t ).
Mr. Dickson was then called upon.
He ax spoke of the new gasolene engine
Connor Bros. have invented, the pat-
ents they held for other machinery,
etc. The firm was a responsible one,
their word as good as their bond, and
their work high-class. Exeter could
not afford to lose then:. They had
been approached to leave town, but
would rather remain here. They
would form a joint stock company and
work up a bush:ee l that in a few years
would employ at least 25 hands. They
would start with from 0 to 10. Mr.
Dickson gave a synopsis of the agree-
ment that would be signed.
Other speakers were H. Spackman,
W. H. Levett, J. A. Stewart, T. H.
McCallum, W. (i. Bissett and T. B.
Carling.
Mr. Connor was called upon and be
gave a. sketch of the proposed enlarge-
ment. $0,000 would he necessary to
buy the machinery. The value of pat-
ents was not included in the $10,000.
They are not able to fill their orders
now. If the by-law passed they would
build in the spring.
On motion of %V. H. Levett and C.
H. Sanders the meeting unanimously
decided to ask the Council to submit
a by-law along the lines mentioned at
the same time of submitting the Gibbs
By-law.
It is a pleasure to note the general
feeling among the citizens of Exeter
that all should aid in pushing the
town ahead. We are on the upward
move and everybody seems anxious to
help it along.

Mr. Arthur Tennison, SS Loudon.

of the merits of Psychine for all'
stomach troubles.
"For seven years I have had indiges-

remedies. My room resembled a drug
store with nostrums which I had bought.
Eventually I used Psychine, and every
dose brought permanent relief."
All throat, lung and stomach troubles
