Mr. Thomas Isaac, was visiting relatives and friends in town this week. Miss Sanders and Miss Sweet return- ed from the millinery openings in Tor- onto on Tuesday. Mr. John Trott returned to bis home in Beautsvillo after a two weeks' visit with relatives here. Mr. T. E. Handford left Monday for Winnipeg to look over the situation in the horse business. Mrs. Wm. Easterbrook has made a quilt of 4,300 pieces, and Mrs. John Preszcator has just finished one of 0,000 pieces. A. J. Rollins, of Manitoba, is in Centralia purchasing horses to ship west. He says the prospects for Man- itoba are bright. Robert Mattice, of Brussels, and James Lawrence turned fifty horse shoes in one hour. They challenge any two in the county. 500 people attended a carnival in the Roller Rink Tuesday night, when the following won prizes: John Vail, John Bawden, Miss L. Stewart, Miss Susie Weekes, H. L. Billings, Miss Fanny Fairburn, Miss Amelia Davis, Thos. Oke, Geo. Escrett, Jos. Davis. The Judges were N. D. Hurdon, A. %%':ti- ters and Mr. Lennox.
