(The regular team's trimming conies later). To be sure the Crediton boys don't Mind if the Exeter fellows do crow it little. 1t isn't often they get a chance when playing with Cred- iton, 1t was no kid's gauze', either, Friday night. ):very man had served his apprenticeship on the baseball field, :tlthough that was in most cases many years ago; and they hadn't for- gotten everything either. Why there was Di. Amos in right Held who had only one chance on it good swift fly but accepted it beautifully, grasping the ball so tightly that it is still a little lob -sided. Ed. Willis at right field was right on the job and at the bat he bit everything in sight. His hardest work was running the bases, but then he is not as thin as he used to be. Billy Statham in the box did excellent work, fanning out no less than lOrnen. Billy had a curve, too, that he didn't know anything about, and it fooled more than a few. Wes. Cole behind the bat received everything in the best of style and the other fellows were not asleep. On the field the boys played the game all the time, catching well and backing -up in a way that was good to see. At bat Statham and White made home runs and nearly everybody had a three -bagger to their credit. The runs each made will be seen below. At the end of the first in- nings things looked blue for the visit- ors Crediton staking six runs while Exeter failed to reach home. But front that time on everything was rosy and getting more so all the time. For Crediton August Kuhn made a good catcher; C. Bluett and 11. Young did good pitching although nothing could stop the visitors from hitting the ball; Sam Brown on shout made some beautiful stops, tvhile W. Wenzel on third was unfortunately compelled to face a bright declining sun and couldn't be expected to shine, only by reflection. Ezra Faist easily took the cake for base running.Nothing on earth seemed to stop him except the home plate. Barney Brown was in the game for three or four innings, in the place of F. Young, and the way he steamed down to fleet base was a sight for sore eyes. But the pace was too fast and he dropped out in the fourth. A big good-natured crowd was present, and nothing could improve the good friendly feeling that was shown, al- though a few of the little chaps got a bit too noisy in the sixth. Crediton is noted for Its big bunch of enthusias- tic fans and it is a pity that Exeter does not take the same interest in the game. Neil McConnell umpired. A return game will be played on Friday. For the first time in four years the complete results of the departmental examinations will he published. it. is expected that they will appear in ten days or two weeks. Four years ago the education department ceased pub- lishing the results of the examinations owing to the complaints of some of the smaller high schools that invidious comparisons were being made, detri- mental to the interests of the school. instead of this the results were sent to the different principals. and made known by them. This, however, WAS found to cause numerous delays, ow- ing to the absence of the principals on their holidays. The results this year will be published according to coun- ties and not of school..
