Usborne Council.
Council met May 4th pursuant to
adjournment. All members were pre-
sent. The minutes of the last meeting
were read and approved. A deputa-
tion from Woodham waited on the
Council asking a grant of tuoney to-
ward building cement sidewalks, and
on motion of Routly and Moir were
granted $30 to purchase cement. The
following changes were made in the
list of Pathmasters for 1007, Jno.
Thompson in place of F. Luxton, John
Frayne in place of John Westlake and
13. Meakins in place of E. Christie; and
By-law No. 4 confirming the appoint-
ment of Pathmasters was passed, sign-
ed and sealed. The Court of Revision
of the Assessment Roll for 1007 will
meet at Township Hall, Eliwville, on
Saturday, June lst at 10 o'clock in the
forenoon. The Act for the improve-
ment of Public Highway was consid-
ered and a resolution passed that the
Council of Ushorne Township do not
approve of any action being taken by
the Council of the County of Huron to
establish a system of county roads un-
der authority of the said act. Ac-
counts amounting to $18.78 were pass-
ed and orders issued in payment.
Council then adjourned to meet June
lst after Court of Revision. F. Morley,

while cleaning a horse on Sunday,
was knocked down and trampled upon.

Clinton: Kenneth Beaton, at the
recent examination in London. of
students for the Methodist ministry,
passed in all subjects. He is the eldest
son of Mr. A. D. Beaton, of town.
Bayfield: In the death, which took
place on Thursday, of Mrs. Thomas
Herd, Sr.,this village loses another old
and highly esteemed citizen. The fun-
eral took place on S•ttirday afternoon
to Bayfield cemetery.
Hibbert: Miss Annie A. Brennan,
daughter of Thos. Drennan. died at
her home here on Tuesday at the age
of 19 years, 11 months.
Seaforth: Mrs. John Shine had the
misfortune a few days ago to trip on a
plank on a sidewalk and falling, had
some of her ribs fractured.
Parkhill: Mr. English, of the Frank-
lin House received a black eye the
other day by being struck by the cork
of a birch beer bottle.
Seaforth: Mark Mowat, an employ
of the Furniture Company, had the
misfortune to have two fingers taken
off while at work on Tuesday.
Parkhill: On Thursday evening,
little Edith Ellis, daughter of H. Ellis,
had the misfortune to wrench her
ankle, while jumping over a rope.

St. Marys: A. E. Hobbs has gone to
the London Hospital to have an oper-
ation performed on his foot.
Tuckersmith: Mrs. McLean, River-
side, has been prostrated by an attack
of paralysis.
Parkhill: Dr. J. A. McLeish, carried
off honors in the recent exams. he
wrote at Chicago Veterinary College.
Clinton: Mr. Robinson of the Rat-
ter.bury House has sold out to a Mr.
Laird, from near St. Thomas, who
takes possession as soon as the trans-
fer can be made.
Ailsa Craig: The name of Will Mar-
shall, son of Stuart Marshall, is among
the successful students at the London
Medical School. He passed his first
year taking honors in all but two sub-
jects.
Mt. Cannel: Mr. and Mrs. Jno. Ree-
der held a birthday party in honor of
their son, Andrew Kenneth. The ev-
ening was pleasantly spent in music
and games. Kenneth was made the
recipient of many pretty gifts.
Seaforth: Win. Cooper has the
champion duck, at least one that lays
eggs of an extraordinary size. He has
an egg laid by his bird which weighs
six ounces, is six and one-half inches
the one way and eight inches the
other.
St. Marys: A section hand named
Wigglesworth who has been working
on the London line of the G.T.R. as-
sisting in the laying of the 80 -pound
rails had one of his feet badly jammed
Friday. He was brought here for
treatment.
Parkhill: Messrs. Fairies & Pile,
who have conducted a furniture and
undertaking business here for the past
year, being successors to Phippen &
Simpson, have disposed of their stock
to W. W. Tait, who will in future con-
duct the business.
Russeldale: Miss Eliza Wiley,
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Hugh Wiley, died suddenly in New
York city on Saturday at the age of
52 years. The body was brought to
Mitchell Tuesday and interred in the
Presbyterian cemetery.
Stanley: David Pollock, an old resi-
dent of this neighborhood died recent-
ly- at Prince Albert, Sask., at the age
54 years. Ile was a native of Huron
County, Ont. He has been nn invalid
for some months, and only recently
returned from Banti, where he had
been for treatment.
Tuckersutith: Samuel Reid, of the
Mill road, whose health has been very
lpoor since New Years, is now sufficient-
y recotflred to get out, but his sight
is very defective,one eye being entirely
useless with cataract and he bas to
undergo an operation in a few days
for its removal ftom that eye.
Seaforth: A valuable Clydesdale
stallion, recently imported from the old
country and which (leo. T. Turnbull
had in 3forrow's stables, died on \\'ed-

Mitchell: Master H. Colquhoun,who
was sentenced by P. M. Davis at the
police Court Friday to five years in the
Industrial School at Mimico was tak-
en there Monday.
St. Marys: A three year old child
of Wm. Moses, Downie, who hits been
residing with its grandparents, had its
arms badly scalded on Sunday last by
the upsetting of a tea kettle of boiling
hot water.
Fullerton: On Tuesday night the
death occurred of Margaret Grey,
Downie, and wife of Nicholas Seebach.
Mrs. Seebach, who was 56 years of age,
had been ill during tue past three
weeks. She is survived by her husband
and family of six children.
Ailsa Craig: Much sympathy is felt
here for the relatives of the late Chas.;
McKay. son of S. G. McKay, who met
instant death last week while install-
ing a new electric machine near Pem-;
broke. Mr. McKay had, a few months
previous, completed his course. He
was a clever and highly -respected
young man.

St. Marys: One of St. Marys pioneer
business men and highly esteemed cit-
izen in the person of \Vm. Coleman,
passed away Thursday, after a short
illness at the age of 70 years, 8 months
and 9 days. He was a native of Eng-
land and came to St. Marys 50 years
ago. He is survived by a wife, three
sons and two daughters.
