THE WINGI1AM TIMES
/Tugs w Amt.
The death occurred in Toronto on
Wednesday, Dec. 9, of a former well,
known resident of Teeswater, Mrs.
Jas. Agnew. Mrs. Agnew had not been
well since undergoing an operation a
little over a year ago,. but her death
was not expected by her many friends
here and the news came as a shock to
them. Her maiden name was Louisa
Wellwood and her early life was spent
in Oshawa. After her marriage to Mr.
Agnew they lived for some time in Gor-
rie and in Cannington, moving to Tees -
water about twenty-five years ago. In
September of last year Mrs. Agnew
went to Toronto to receive medical
treatment from specialists and about to
months later the family moved there.
She leaves besides her husband, one son
Cecil of Winnipeg, and three daughters
Mae and Islay of the regular teaching
staff, Toronto, and Mrs. Jas, Gallagher
of New York.
BLYTR.
The Council held its final meeting of
the year on Tuegclay night, of last week
when Reeve Milne presented each of
the councillors with a present.
By the present outlook the old
board will again represent Blyth
next year, as most people are of the
opinion that it would be needless ex-
pense to have and election this year.
A quiet home wedding took place
Wednesday, of last week, at the resi-
dence of Mr. and Mrs. D. Nicol, when
their youngest daughter, Myrtle, was
united in marriage to Mr. J. Carter, of
Hullett. Ra. W. D. Turner offici-
ated. The happy couple left in the
evening for their home, where a recep-
tion was held for them.

president, Henry Horny; secretary,
Alex. Elder; treasurer, G. II. McTag-
gatt; directors, E. Robinson, E. Met-
calfe, N. Cumming, R. A. King, H.

flourishing conditien and every year
sends considerable money to headquar-
tets to advance this worthy cause.

AR K ETS
Toronto, Dec. 21st.—Union Stock
Yards—Receipts, 57 cars, with 786
cattle, 40 calves, 1,702 hogs, and 375
sheep and lambs.
..The cattle market has already as-
sumed a partial holiday aspect, as seen
in the unusual quiet and emnparatively
small volume of business transacted on
a Monday's market. The run was light,
only 57 cars of stoek of all kinds arriv-
ing since Saturday. The offerings were
common to medium good buteer and
canners, with no extra choice quality
steers among them. The trade was
quiet but fair, considering the near-
ness of the holidays and the recen
heavy buying. Prices were practically
steady and prolonged at the rather
sharp declines the latter part of last
week. A few good butcher sold from
$7 to $7.50.
Lambs were steady and a little firmer
for quality.
Hogs unchanged at $7,25, fed and
watered.

Tuesday of last weekRudolphus Eng-
land, a former old resident of the 5th
line, died at the home of his niece, Mrs.
Sellers, Blyth, after a brief illness. He
was 83 years of age and was born in
Ireland.
This week Adam J. Smith, of Hart-
ney, Man., arrived for a short visit with
his mother, Mrs. Joseph Smith. 6th
line and other relatives. It will soon be
20 years since Mr. Smith went West
where he has prospered. He says
things are quiet up there and crops were
light, wheat running about 12 bushels
to the acre.
James Spier who is a well known
stockman, attended the Winter Fair at
Guelph and exhibited his -fine 2 year old
Canadian bred stallion, "Drumburlie's
Best," He scored 5th prize in a class
of 12 fine horses which was not bad by
any means. The colt is a dandy and
weighs 1670 pounds, a good showing for
an animal of its age. A siege of dis-
temper was undergone by Mr. Srier's
horses a short time before the Fair or
"Drumburlie Best" might have done
better.
