Shop, which are attracting considerable

of this town was a member of a party

complete inspection of the Grand Trunk
System during the past week.
A rumor has been circulated that
Mr. Wm. Holmes has sold his black-
smithing business. Mr. Holmes wishes
to state that there is no teuth in the
statement and that he is doing business
as usual,

tette which is composed of four of the
most highly talented musicians in Am-
erica. They will appear in the Opera
House on Friday evening, Nov. 13th.
—The small admission fee of thirty-
five cents will buy you a reserved seat
ticket for the concert given by the
Symphony Quartette under the aus-
pices of the Wingham Epworth League
Watch for bills and posters giving date
and particulars.
—At the auction sale of Ed. Bennett at
Salem last week over one hundred head
were disposed of by Auctioneer T. R.
Bennett High prices were realized.
Lambs selling at from $8.50 to $10.10,
Yearling cattle from $26 to $38, cows
from $70 to $106.50.
—Mr. Spence Currie, who has been
with his brother in the furniture and
undertaking business for the past few
months, has severed his connection
with that establishment, and we under-
stand, will remove to Toronto. Mr.
George Dennis has taken the position
with R. A. Currie. •
—A pretty marriage was solemnized
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. J.
Pentland, Ashfield, at 11 o'clock a. m.
on the 7th inst., when their eldest
daughter, Annie E. D., was united in
marriage to Mr, C. A. H. Bellamy,
editor and proprietor of the. Dungannon
News. Rev. J. E. Hunter, of the
Methodist Church, officiated.

Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Burgman have
returned from their trip to Chicago,
Grand Rapids, Park Hill and Walker-
ton.
Mr. John Grimes, of Clinton, was in
town on Tuesday, helping with the ship-
ment of foodstuff for the Patriotic
Fund. •
Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Fleming, of
Fergus, were visiting with Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. Field for a few days last
week.
T. R. Bennett, the Massey -Harris
Agent here,"was down to Toronto on
Monday purchasing a complete stock
of Plow repairs.
Miss 1301, of Paisley and Miss
beck, of Cargill, visited last week
the former's parents, Mr. and
Bell, Victoria St.
—During the last week two men who
had violated the Liquor License Act of
the Province of Ontario by being found
drunk on the streets of the town were
brought before the Magistrate and fined.
The Temperance Association wiSh to
intimate that all infractions of the
Ligtior License Act will be dealt with
and hope all will preserve the law.
CHURCH NOTES.
For the first time in the history of
the Methodist church in Canada, some
ritual will be embodied in the new hymn
book for the church, The general con-
ference has decided on this. The ritual
will include the Lord's prayer, the ten
cornmendments, the Apostles' creed,
the questions and the answers of the
reception service and the general eon-
lession of serviee of the Load's supper,
