the roadster class with his driving
horse. There were eleven horses
entered in this class.

-The wardens committee of the
County of Huron at their meeting at
Goderieb last Friday decided not to call
a special meeting of the couneil but to
deal with a contribution to the Patriotic
Fund ut their regular meeting in
December.
-Mr. Jonathan Pattison, of Don-
gannon, has purchased Mr. F. G. Spar-
ling's house and lot on William street
and will move to Wingham in the near
future. The Tneiss is pleased to wel-
come Mr. and Mrs. Pattison as residents
of Wingliam.
-The dog poisoners are again at
work. This time their victim wee an
inoffensive, three -months' old fax
terrior belonging to Miss Bertha Kent.

-Mrs. Benj. Holmes, a 'former resi-
dent of Wingham, and well-known to a
number of our readers, died at her
home in Dundas on Tuesday of last
week. Mr. Wm. Holmes of town and
Mr. Andrew Holmes of Biuevale attend-
ed the funeral of their sister-in-law in
Dundee, on Thursday.
-The Truce that has been delared in
Canada in the matter of party politics
seems to Lamle already become a task
on the patience of some of the papers.
There is a temptation on both sides to
say things; but there will be plenty of
time after the wa.r is over. And even
if some of the things that tnight be
